Buying power is the excess margin that is available in your margin a/c. Happy trading.

Margin is the amount of credit limit your broker provides you.
i.e. If you have been granted a Rs.200000 credit limit,
Buying Power=Rs.200000 + (The amount you have in cash)

Good Luck!

three days after the days of trade. Stock broker can sell once the settlement date exceeded and they do that now.

What if the value of the shares increases? Then can we request them to keep the shares since the price increases,Then i could sell them in another lets say one month and settle the margin.I get to have a bigger profit since i kept the shares... ?????

The margin is amount of credit your stock broker has given you. They can force sell without your permission if they want to. Therefore, the best is to contact your broker and speak to them and have an agreement/understanding that they ask your permission before they force sell.

You can also agree with them to allow say 3 months time to settle your margin balance, but they will usually charge a high interest typically ranging from 15%-25% depending on the border. They will charge interest on a daily basis.

i utilized my margin and bought some shares assuming that i can settle any time at my discretion. but what happened was my broker called me after a month and said to settle the dues.. but i didnt have cash and also my shares were all in losses so i couldnt sell and settle even.

however i managed to raise cash and settled partly. so now i decide will never buy on margin without having liquid cash in our bank accounts. also they charge a high interest rate too.

so be careful buddies when you buy on credit.. too risky

looking forward for comments from others too
