The committee will meet every month with the participation of the President to make decisions on the economic status of the country relevant to forthcoming years, the President’s Media Division said.
Friday’s discussions focused on creating new employment opportunities, increasing public income, rural economic development, increasing subsidies for the public through tax policies and other sectors and strengthening local industries.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, Ministers Nimal Siripala de Silva, Kabir Hashim, Sarath Amunugama, Rauff Hakeem, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Secretary to the President P. B. Abeykoon, Secretary to the Prime Minister Saman Ekanayake, Secretary to the Finance Ministry Dr. R.H.S. Samaratunga and Central Bank Governor Arjuna Mahendran also participated in the discussion.
