ACL Cables Plc – the largest cable manufacturer in Sri Lanka, commenced the manufacture of cables in the year 1962, pioneering the cable industry in Sri Lanka. At that time, the technical know-how required for the manufacture of cables was arranged by the local liaison office of Mitsui of Japan and the Japanese engineers who worked established a foundation of quality.
Since then, ACL grew in product range, volume, technology and quality to be what it is today – the largest manufacturer holding 45% share of the market. Being number one and having acquired the second largest manufacturer of cables in the year 1998, ACL today, is a group of cable manufacturing companies holding an enviable 70% share of the total market in sri lanka. It may be interesting to note that our subsidiary Kelani Cables which is the second largest manufacturer in Sri Lanka, was owned and managed by Olex cables of Pacific Dunlop Group of Australia till the year 1998.
In case of the board of investment approved duty free projects market, ACL group holds 70% share of the market reflecting the technical superiority of the cables and the competitiveness in pricing.
ACL’s turnover as a group of cable manufacturing goes above us$ 80 million and employees 1000.
ACL as a group has production capacity is in excess of 1000 metric tons of copper and 1200 tons of aluminum per month.
