SEC relaxes minimum public float rule
November 17, 2016  07:25 pm

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka has relaxed rules for Listed Companies to maintain a continuous Public Float.
This will come into effect from the 01st of January, 2017.
The SEC is planning to defer a rule requiring companies to publicly list up to 20% of issued shares.

still we dont know the new rule.

Example
20% --- > 10% Minimum float.

then some Major share holders have a chance to collect stocks from the market

Example if its work other way. 20% -- 30%

then main share holders has to sale stocks into market if they hold above 70%. than chance to drop share price.

so then if its work opposite. that is positive for some stocks. specially low P/E ratio stocks and main share holder wants to increase his stake above 80%
