Hi People.
I can see MAL performance are good. specially tea sector.
http://www.pureceylontea.com/index.php?option=com_teaprices&view=hello&layout=front&Itemid=202&lang=en
Please select "Sub District Price" on type drop-down-list. and then you can select month according to your interest.

Please check TEA price on this wen site. I can see average price is gradually going up. specially September also AVG price is going up by Rs 8.  that meaning is "Niyangaya" not much effect to the production and aslo MAL produce reasonable Tea quantity.

I think this time they produce good financial report for this quarter.
Please give me your valuable Ideas. without fighting each other.

Stockback. I already mentioned several times my view on MAL.

I am not sure about Tea sector output ( revenue) but higher tea prices , their Tea Export business and Rubber ( also increased) sure buffer any big shock. I ofcouse am not certain as this is a educated guess.

As someone also mentioned before MAL management has not been the greatest but I think they are trying to get their act together now. I saw them venturing into Fruits, Timber also ( nned to double check) .

PS; Please edit title to be not in ALL CAPS.

Ofcouse the possibility is there as fundamental support it. But it is the crowd buying pressure that pushes this up. As we need to be safe on this for the next 3 month it is best to watch the Spet quarter if you are in for short term. We expect decent results but we only guess with logic. If it goes wrong there will be many to blame here or panic to sell. So better to be watchful.

Wage hike in march 2013 will be the death blow to most plantation companies.

Yes if Tea/ Rubber prices don't increase and the wages again go up a lot.

But the ones that can surive will be one swith diversified crops mainly Rubber which needs to less labor compared to Tea.

Mechanized plucking which is doing well in many other countries (even in Tea) was tried out in a few plantations but I do not think that it is being widely used in Sri Lanka.
Why, I am unable to comment.
(It was Unions and or Cost factor or both).
If it is not the Cost factor, then these plantation managers have to seriously think about it to nullify and or to circumvent the labour related issues plaguing profitability.

Not easy to push this share after subdivision in last year.(10 shares for every 1 share)
NAPS came to 9.13 including timber stock.negative cash flow 86M,regularly taking loans to repay loans.

public shares holdings 37.74%

(3)Pershing LLC S/A Avernach Grauson & Co. had 9,070,000 shares at 31/03/12
7,520,000 shares at 30/06/12 Twisted Evil

Pan Asia Banking Corporation PLC/B R Fernando had 900,000 shares at 31/03/12
399,950 shares at 30/06/12

I believe they cant do any miracle with sep q reports. ha ha you can see whether no 3 share holder has reduced the share holdings or not.Guess BR Fernando is the Executive director of CSF. I saw lot of people connected to ceylinco in top 20 list.

For me this share is not good for mid term/long term. But Trading opportunities may arise.

Okay duly noted. Let watch for sept report. If thign turn out wrong we do not have to stay married to shares for sure. Compnay needs to do things to improve share holder wealth and take care of them . Then only is is a mutual investment.

As plantation share have cycles , I don;t think it is wise to hold on to them for long term due to big fluctuations.

As expected no major drop in profits. Recall how much trouble some tried to create when MAL dropped below Rs 5 ;-) .

There many plantation sector share trading at low PE and NAVs. TPL and MASK for example. Due to volatility in plantation sector they ussually trade low compared to other sectors.
So until a plantation run or some news , MAL also does not have special reason to move.

This is one of those share which got hit by share splitting and diversification strategy. Even though there is potential to go up, it gets pulled back by selling pressure. Cannot expect a miracle in short term.
