I dont think they will be able to reduce fuel price after giving so much tax cut, if they do so it will further deteriorate the government earnings.
Instead of giving benefits that affect the government earnings they will think of other benefits which dont affect them

From all the counters in the exchange, we all know LIOC will be the best counter to hold in the coming months. While rest of the market continues to fall, LIOC is on the defensive. Oil prices are 18 year low. Indian parent company and LIOC are stocking up oil for later use. That’s what all oil traders globally and companies are doing.

At the moment, there is no demand but each time a curfew is lifted, people are out there to pump their gases. Once when this all passes, LIOC will have a magnificent run for a while.

Sri Lanka starts taxing Lanka IOC for low oil prices

April 5, 2020

The Sri Lankan Government has increased the duty on petroleum imports of Lanka Indian Oil Corporation (Lanka IOC) with effect from 13 March, Minister of Power and Energy Mahinda Amaraweera told The Sunday Morning Business.
“This increased duty came into effect about three weeks ago. This is in addition to the taxes that are already being charged on the imported petroleum products,” Amaraweera stated.

The ruling party SLPP yesterday called on its voters to boycott Lanka Indian Oil Company (LIOC) fuel stations, as a first measure against the latter decision to increase fuel prices.
Former United Peoples Freedom Alliance Parliamentarian, Dilan Perera, addressing the SLPP media briefing yesterday said that if the LIOC was adamant on increasing prices despite a drop on global oil prices, the governments first step to control this would be to call on the voters to avoid LIOC fuel shed.
“President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and all those in his Government call on the 6.9 million people who voted for him to boycott the LIOC petrol sheds as they are disregarding government instruction using legal loopholes,” Perera said.
He said that the UNP Government was to blame for allowing the LIOC to be established as a private entity and that requesting the people to only use Ceylon Petroleum corporation fuel outlets while shunning LIOC was the first step in the government taking back control of fuel prices in Sri Lanka.
Lanka IOC earlier this week decided to roll back the reduction of Rs. 5/litre on the price of petrol (LP92) which was made on 6 April.
With that revision LP92 price is now Rs. 142/litre at LIOC sheds against Rs. 137/litre at CPC sheds. However, LIOC’s diesel price is on par with CPC.
Former MP Dilan Perera also said that it’s cheaper for consumers to pump CPC fuel rather pumping LIOC paying more.

This is not the way to treat a company . Let customers to decide it . These kind of statements will kill the foreign direct investment in future. LIOC has very low cost stored fuel which has been purchased in negative territory ,
the same way , IF Lioc decides to sell less price compare to CPC? What will be the scenario ??

Not only LIOC but also LLUB would be affected by increased taxes on petroleum products. So, better to stay away from these stocks for a while.

Despite this showed a positive signs to move upward on 18/6 (THU) with good volumes, it was not active afterwards. Can we collect this around 14 again?
