Listen from Minute 36.54 to 37.30 a comment Lee Kuan Yew had made referring to the sad plight of Sri Lanka voter behaviour, which he had observed even in 1980. What an extraordinary man!!!

That is how exactly Sri Lankan voters changed the then govt in Jan 2015 just for a change without a proper plan for progression.

As he says once a govt is changed you can't change it for nexr 5 years by which time irreparable damage and loss being done to the country. How true!!!

A Buddhist monk ties a blessed thread on the wrist of Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees yesterday. The Maha Sangha yesterday convened to demand President Maithripala Sirisena to reconvene Parliament soon to end the political crisis which has engulfed the island nation for the past two weeks since the abrupt dismissal of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on 26 October by the President. A large group of Buddhist monks gathered near the Buddha statue at Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo and walked to New Town Hall to hold a rally to “reconvene Parliament and honour democracy".

Prior to attending the convention at Town Hall, the Maha Sangha came to Temple Trees and blessed Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.

The Maha Sangha, who chanted Seth Pirith, invoked blessings on Wickremesinghe and proceeded to Colombo New Town Hall where the summit was to be held. President Sirisena prorogued Parliament on 27 October until 16 November. Amid pressure from political parties, civil society and the international community, including the UN and Commonwealth, the President, prolonging the political crisis, announced that Parliament would be reconvened on 14 November, only two days earlier than the scheduled date.

President Sirisena's move to prorogue Parliament is viewed as an effort to lure crossovers from the Opposition to support the Prime Minister appointed by Sirisena, Mahinda Rajapaksa, in Parliament.

It is claimed that the removal of PM has lead to a constitutional crisis. If so, it is in order for the aggrieved party to move Supreme court on the matter and the ruling of the SC will be final and binding on both parties. But here we see the issue being taken up with the foreign diplomats and missions seeking the intervention of the international agencies and the international community, which is unwarranted. Why do we have a Supreme Court????

In my opinion this will be a bad precedent which could spell disaster to the country in the future.

People elected Parliament is more power than court.Open parliament and prove your majority. It would make horu PM as legal PM.Then there is no need of international intervention.

Primary issue here is whether the removal of PM is constitutional or not. According to Lord Naseby, a respected member of the IC "it is unusual but not unconstitutional".Unquote: Perhaps the only mistake the President made was that he should have done this soon after the bond scam was exposed.

Proroguing Parliament only for 9 days has been done as explained by President is to prepare the 'vote on account'. Forcing President not to exercise powers vested with him too will be a bad precedent as any President in future may not be able to prorogue parliament for any reason what so ever.

In my opinion taking into consideration the prevailing unstable situ the President should consider dissolution of parliament if provisions are there in the constitution to do so and that would give an opportunity to prove whether people endorse his actions or not.

Its a pity that some members of the IC are behaving like IRCs.

Even the members of the civic society who promoted yahapalanaya and posing off as warriors against corruption and to uphold democracy were ultimately found to have been on the payroll of Litro gas Ltd with the backing of 'bond scam' fame former minister. Two prominent names mentioned were Dambara Amila & Prof.Sarath in the list of 37 names.

WHOM CAN THE PEOPLE TRUST???????????????
