If you need to collect NDB please do it without hiking the price, because I am collecting at a decent price. Seriously this is a good share and can double the price in a year or two, but I'm not happy about the management or the fact that there will be no dividend this year. Also the banking sector will take at least 6 - 12 months to rally. So if you have cash to put on hold then no worries. I personally have locked in 15% of my portfolio in the sector.

Not a recommendation to buy or sell, do your own research before purchasing or selling.

Dividends were cancelled as per the regulation of CBSL as far as I know.
What about their management? https://www.dailynews.lk/2020/10/07/finance/230749/ndb%E2%80%99s-dimantha-seneviratne-wins-best-banking-ceo-award

I am not happy how the company was run for tha past few years, especially when they paid handsome dividends and went for right issues right after that. They could have skipped the dividends and invested that funds into the company.

Also they used to have the best rates for customer retention and credit defaults and all of it started falling apart in the past few years.

How would the RI go since the share is traded below the Right's price?

The thing is this, Company management is not practical. They do not know about investors satisfaction. I think, they are going to show it second time. Rs.75 is the fair value for the company. But, they do not know, it is not reasonable for such RI. What to do? This clearly, Shows difference between educated person and practical person.

They didn't even decide on a XD date for the rights issue when they first announced it, so I think there will be a mojor overhaul on the process with the price and ratios being changed. Which will mean the price might go down a little bit due to investors getting frustrated.

When I said it was 74, came to 85 and due to credit rating downgrade of all banks by Moody's, Fitch and S&P went down to 77-78. I'm not sure it will touch pass 100 in two months time. But what I sure is with improving credit rating as well as NDB right issue this will pass 100. Sorry to modify my prediction, but this is first time and in financial markets all is uncertain

Last month, in the Notes to their Interim Financial Statements, NDB raised hopes of a final dividend for 2020 by stating:

"The Bank paid an interim dividend of LKR 1.50 in respect of the Financial year 2020.
Upon completion of the capital infusion that has been announced, the Board of Directors may consider a declaration of a final dividend to its shareholders."

Now that the capital infusion has been completed, they ought to either declare a final dividend or say that they are not going to pay.

Any news or thoughts on the subject?

Most undervalued banking share is NDB. The P/E at today's market price (76/-) is 2.90. At the market P/E of 10, the share price should be 262/-.

Despite the fact that most of the banking sector counters are fundamentally strong, the macroeconomic conditions are unfavorable to the sector still. Probably there might be some hope towards banking with today's unveiling of ANC's economic roadmap. But currently, the economic burden/ shocks are trembling the sector as we have never seen before with moratoriums, Dollar peg values. In LT, for sure these will bounce back.
