Was the market positive over the last four years under a UNF govt???

What was the reason? The infighting between RW and MS, creating policy uncertainty and not letting anything get done. You should also not the foreign exodus from the bond market and the stock market since the announcement of GR candidacy.

While they were united did the market perform well? Recall, subsequent to bond scam just prior to DEW Gunasekera present the COPE report the parliament was dissolved by MS. So, weren't they united at that stage? and what was the plight of CSE?
GR's candidacy had nothing to do with the exodus referred to, it was mainly b'cos of economic instability & depreciating rupee.
UNF's chance of winning an election in the future is rather remote and in case they do it will spell death knell to CSE, the market will crash! and perhaps you could put the blame on infighting between RW & SP.

Rupee depreciated coz of foreigners selling SL bonds and stocks. Check the stats from Central Bank.. like I said the local heavy weights are more aggressive, coz they made their money from the Rajapakses, and they would make more, if they come back..

Vibrant economy & a secure nation are prerequisites for the Corporate sector to do well and the CSE to benefit. This will not happen under the rogues who robbed the Central Bank and compromised national security.

After the election date is announced and nominations are called, foreigners will start to re-enter the market

Dont think foreigners much participation here. Rupee is in decline mode , it seems more foreigners will exit upto certain level
