95% Sure GOTA doesn't have complete the US  citizenship renouncing process. that Derana video show that citizenship renouncing is a lengthy process. Even he gets the renouncing certificate then he needs to get the citizenship Srilanka again since he has dual citizenship at present in Sri Lanka. please correct me if I'm wrong.

A person has to be a citizen of one country. Since he is a dual citizen, when he renounces his citizenship from US (If he has done it, not sure) he will retain the citizenship in SL. No need to apply again.

With less than 48 hours for the presidential election i don't understand why this hue & cry about Gota's citizenship at this point in time? These are malicious propaganda to mislead people and to discourage investors by the going to be loser's stooges.
If there is an issue there are relevant authorities who will look into that not for jokers to speculate.

The movie was described as action packed, but the only scene of real action came on screen at the end of the show when the frustrated audience was walking out of the cinema hall. OPINION POLL: Presidential Elections 2020 - Page 15 Icon_lol

DNFs internal problems have reached climax confusing the masses. SP categorically stated that a younger person will be appointed as PM if he wins, but RW claims that he will be PM which was reiterated by RK. People who were to vote for SP are very unhappy and confused over this situation. GR will win without any resistance at all.OPINION POLL: Presidential Elections 2020 - Page 15 Lol

GOOD NEWS FOR CSE!

I totally  agree, during the 50 day constitutional crisis  they went to the court  like going to the super market .so they had ample time to do likewise for this  issue .why beat around the bush at the last minnute . shouldn't send wrong signal to  the investing fraternity. it is the economy  of our country ultimately  suffer

Cold war between SP & RW surfaced at the last campaign meeting at Maradana. People had gone through immense hardships over the last five years and do not want same to continue.

Sri Lanka presidential race tightens as minorities seek to stop Rajapaksa

COLOMBO (Reuters) - Sri Lankans elect a new president on Saturday in a “finely balanced” race between the early favorite, former defense chief Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and government minister Sajith Premadasa, who has gained momentum in recent weeks.

Now euphoria is over and reality looming with Teller's PV inner bullish as some countries with regionals interest, US urges new SL president to respect human rights

The United States called on the new president, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, to ensure human rights and accountability after a campaign in which he vowed to scrap a probe into alleged war crimes.
“The United States congratulates the people of Sri Lanka on their democratic election and stands ready to work with Gotabaya Rajapaksa as the new President of Sri Lanka.  We call on President Rajapaksa to uphold Sri Lanka’s commitments to security sector reform, accountability, respect for human rights, and non-recurrence of violence,” Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said.
“Sri Lanka continued to show the strength and resiliency of its democracy with a free, fair, and transparent presidential election befitting Asia’s oldest democracy.  We applaud the Sri Lankan Elections Commission, Sri Lankan civil society, and the candidates themselves for promoting a peaceful election,” he said.

He also said, “Sri Lanka is a valued partner, and we want to work with the government and people of Sri Lanka to advance cooperation on bilateral and regional issues, including fostering a free and open Indo-Pacific region where all countries can prosper, deepening good governance, and promoting justice, reconciliation, and human rights.”

This is not something new and in my opinion US will be a partner in the progress of Sri Lanka together with several other nations. After all, the country has to come out of the economic mess created by the UNF govt over the years. However,as a nation we have displayed resilience in pulling through challenges and calamities in the past.

India’s External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar arrived in Sri Lanka on an official visit, a short while ago.

The Indian Minister was accompanied by a delegation of several high-ranking officials from the External Affairs Ministry of India.

He had reached the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) at around 4.20 p.m. onboard a flight from New Delhi.
