OMG, Its crazy to even consider such pardon.

Will President ever consider pardon if the victim was his daughter????

There are ways & means how one could get a Doctorate nowadays! and is this a reason to justify a pardon?????

Hope there will be a massive public outcry against the President's consideration of pardoning a ruthless murderer whose track record has been highly deplorable.

The outgoing president has willfully set a precedent for the incoming one to follow. If Gota comes to power he'll gleefully follow suite. The convicted murderer Duminda, those who are inside for the abduction of school children, that "palath saba"  coyote who raped a U.K girl on tour and killed her BF, then "Atha Kota,"  they'll all come out one after the other.

Sira has once again shown what an idiot he really is or may be the temptation was too great for this "simple man" to resist.

Anyway, there won't be any "heroes"  to fast unto death against this blatant action.

This is what the sister of the victim had to say to HE President via facebook:

President Maithripala Sirisena, I am writing this letter to you, but I am fully aware you may never read it. Just as you pardoned my sister’s murderer on a Saturday night and chose to do it on a long weekend in Sri Lanka so you could avoid facing what you have done for as long as possible. I cannot begin to understand how a father of two daughters reached the decision to release this monster? I know every single injury my sister sustained that night. I could write the extensive list right here, it is tragically clear in my memory, but I need to protect my parents from having to go through it all again. I can’t stop thinking about what she went through that night. She fought for her life, even running from her attacker with broken ankles. I know you didn’t follow due process for this murderer’s release, but did you even take the time to look into this case at all?
No one will ever truly understand the impact a murder has on a family and how loss follows loss. We lost friends who themselves couldn’t cope, our country which we called home and ourselves over and over again. My parents and I occupy ourselves every moment so we don’t sink into dark thoughts. Pretending to be fine and normal has its own weight and repercussions. We know this too well but it has been the only way to make sure that the murderer didn’t take more from us. I watch my father be so strong in front of people, but behind closed doors, he is a broken man. President, do you know how many years it took for my father to stop crying in his sleep? My mother has been unable to express herself or fathom what had happened to her firstborn child. She is highly protective of me and rightly so. People close to us never understood this, but I have always stuck by my mother’s side because I understand. I understand it even more now being a mother to a little girl.
I remember feeling this hollow and lost when my sister died. Since I heard the news confirming the pardon, I have felt completely on edge and I haven’t stopped shaking. It took me about 10 years to start to feel close to normal, but now here I am, in this same dark hole again. Worst of all, I have a 4-month-old daughter that needs her mother, so I’m aware that this will be the greatest test of my inner strength. I have come to live with this pain and it has become a part of who I am today. This type of pain never heals, it matures with you. I dealt with it as a teenager, then as a young adult and now as a parent and I know I will continue feeling its strife whilst it transforms itself until I am at rest.
Finally President, now that you have once again inflicted this unbearable pain on my family, I think we and all the people who have expressed concern with the recent events, deserve to know the true reasons you involved yourself in this case. There are countless Sri Lankans in custody for lesser crimes, yet you have chosen to pardon a prisoner convicted of premeditated murder, and in doing so undermined the highest level of judiciary in the country. The reasons given in your public speech in no way justify the pardoning of a murderer. Your silence on the matter since your speech makes me fear we may never know the truth behind your decision, but you will now be attached to this case forever and for all of the wrong reasons. It would be impossible for any action to make better what happened to my sister and the subsequent pain for my family, but you have used your Presidential power and ended your term by succeeding in making it even worse.

President defends pardoning Royal Park murder convict

http://www.pmdnews.lk/

Many religious leaders, former Supreme Court Judges, lawyers, civil society leaders and youth leaders have made representations to President Maithripala Sirisena, recommending granting a sympathetic consideration to the appeal for granting Presidential pardon to 34-year old Don Shramantha Jude Anthony Jayamaha, who is serving a life imprisonment on the murder taken place at Royal Park, Rajagiriya.
Ven Athraliye Rathana Thero, Member of Parliament, played a key role and coordinated in obtaining Presidential pardon for this youth and he has brought the parents and close relations of the youth to meet the President and give a lengthy explanation of the background.
Ven Rathana Thero also made a written appeal to the President explaining that the murder took place due to an argument over a love affair between the youth and the young girl and Shramantha Jude Anthony Jayamaha, while serving his sentence in prison with good behavior and conduct and undertook studies to successfully complete his external degree and now working for his PhD and he is an intelligent young man with a pleasant personality. He appealed to consider above and release him on a Presidential pardon.
Ven Rathana Thero also appealed to the President to consider this in accordance with the Buddhist teachings of compassion.
Ven Baddegama Samitha Thero too urged the President to pardon this youth as an intelligent person he would be a good citizen in future and it would be highly appreciated.
Ven Dr Keradewala Punnarathana Nayake Thero, Dwitheeya Adhikarana Sangha Nayake of Southern Sri Lanka, also stated that the President Should sympathetically consider granting pardon to this youth he has not indulged in any illegal acts apart from the crime he was found guilty. Ven Balangoda Buddhagosha Thero also stressed the importance of granting Presidential pardon to this youth.
When this crime took place Shramantha Anthony Jude Jayamaha was a 19 year old youth and considering that it was reported that the crime was committed due to instantaneous and uncontrolled anger and not a pre-planned murder and considering his good conduct during the last 15 years of prison life and he has completed higher studies and studying for PhD and he is an intelligent and experienced person who has been rehabilitated and he has not been found guilty of any wrong doings during the imprisoned period, and considering that he has an ability to serve the country as a good citizen and in other countries too such amnesty is given to prisoners, the President has decided to pardon Shramantha Jude Anthony Jayamaha.

Why? There will be so many Doctorates who may walk out of prison before the 16th. Dr.Atha Kota, Dr.Makandure Madush, Dr.Kanjipani Imran ......to name a few.

There is one thing common in Jayamaha & MS. Both look mad!
