u have to select best company. check last 6 year EPS and check wether NAV increased by (EPS-divident) also consider revaluation losses if available

other wise you will be misleaded by cooked books whowing huge EPS buy no NAV increased since EPS is Fake

i will never trust EPS figure without support of NAV increase. thease days accountants are robbers thay can show what ever EPS they want. but its difficult to align fake EPS with NAV growth

Good point, you may miss out on turnaround stories though. Accounting is not a perfect science. For e.g. IFRS 9 has so many subjective assumptions that it makes a mockery of itself. Comparing to FDs I suppose you are talking about ROE of the corporate entity rather than the total stock market return ( price volatility + dividend - tax ) CSE was in the dumps last 4 1/2 years so by any measure equities were for fools and FD were to smart investors during this tenor but things have changed now. Look at ROI not ROE, we are minority investors so we need a return on our hard earned money with FD as the benchmark. /happy investing !
