Ametures please find a strategy 1st before analysis
Stocks markets are to the people serching for passive income (income without a job by divident)

find out what is your yearly expence if u need to live the life u want
say 100000 lkr per month X 12 = 1200000

you have to get 12lac divident per year if u need to become financially indipendant

say divident rate 8%

12 lac/ 8% = you need 15 mn in stocks to become financially indipendent

work until that you receive your freedom number. if your number is 15 mn i say u try for 30 mn
since in a sudden market crash divi reduced you can survive without impacting your life style.

thease are the things srilankans dont know. they think investing is put money and get a profit

that's good point Thilina, In addition to that i was checking this,

Ex: I was checking ESP is continually grow yearly. then price will go up yearly like CTC...
then easily our money will increased ( compare to inflation )

then we can spend dividend for our used.

if we invested return for money 20% and divident 8% company other 12% will cater the inflation 6%
and for fund growth there will be other 6% . 20% return will not be a easy target. i mean 20% company profits not 20% price gain. price gain is useless when u dont sell untill upset fundamentals.

I think 60% in fixed deposit and 40% in stock market is better in Sri Lanka.

@thilinaM, yes I am reading intelligent investor book these days and still finished 3 chapters. according to graham, I am a defensive investor with a long term approach. I save 60% of my salary and I put only 40% of it to the stock market.

@Teller, I don't think young investors should take that kind of risk, I mean 70% stock and 30% bond or FD. Because of Sri Lanka's political and economic uncertainty.
