As per the current trading prices of crude oil, the petrol price should be revised minimum 14 rupees in Sri Lanka. This is a better option for distribution of benefits through whole over the economy rather than specific tax cuts. The reduction impact will be quick and effectively influence to community. Oli trades 50$ per barrel now , its really cheap. Most of the countries reduced the prices now but LK?Petrol to be reduced by 14 rupees. Screen26

Your knowledge of the behavior of the economy is very worrying. Reducing oil prices does not affect the good of the economy. In a country like Sri Lanka, oil prices are just a commodity.
This could increase inflation.

But a slight reduction in the price of oil can be expected due to the general election. It won't be the kind of ridiculous economic vision you say.

@ASDS, you should learn the disposable income influence to investments , my question is Why have they removed the price formula ? In case if it effectively , People should get at least 14 rupees. Especially Asias developing countries get big influence to spending, based on oil prices. Currently LK government earn 70+ as a tax per litre of Petrol. They came for power for a welfare economy . What happened to farmers now? Where is a steady buy price for paddy? Pepper, rubber all are same. Nothing was happened ,just passed 100 days. Touch your heart.

There are many people who say that they should reduce the price of oil. But nobody is saying that the government should cover the loss incurred by one unit of electricity.

Do you know the annual tax revenue of the government? Do you know what the annual recurring expenditure is, other than capital expenditure?
If you knew it you wouldn't ask me this stupid question.😏

Come to the topic, my simplE question is, if price formula is effectively , people should get 14 rupee saving from Petrol. I know government is running hard. But have you seen MPs,Ministers have dedicated their resources rather than approving their benefits. Sri is one of the highest electricity prices in the world. But electricity board losses...we can not say Fuel and electricity offset. Why people should pay for inefficiency ??

First thing is formula introduced by the same people do not know exact formula.so calculating a figure is not justifiable.if petrol prices are reduced will prices of essential items or other items will come down?

Unit price comparison has been done based on the per capital income and Gross domestic products. My objective was to highlight the benifits which should be received by people. When price hikes, people bear the additional cost, when price drops, they have a right to receive the benifits.

Since people are adjusted to the expences at present govt should not reduce the prices which will further burden the economy.
