If you dont know how to manage risks you will have lot of losses, that is common for big and small.
If you have purxhasd high and asking to close the market have no sense.
There will be ups and downs in the market, some times those are very steep.
Those who take right decision at right time will survive .
This is not a normal situation. Even during 21/4 market was closed. Allowing market to crash only create more panic and people specially retailers who cant bear losses to affect and loose their hard earned savings or retirement money. Economy also affect badly.. ITS ALWAYS OK FOR GOVT TO INTERVENE DURING ABNORMAL SITUATIONS.. EVEN IF ITS GOING HIGH TOO MUCH...Yes Normal losses should not be intervened.. These losses due to panic and do not corellate with the ground .situation.

Your argument is correct during normal ups and downs.. This is a panic which can create lot of heart breaks and frustrations with the market.

As CSE coming under Banking sector I think market will be open today, still cse has not given an announcement regarding this up to now, I personally wish market should close for these three days. GL

holiday is meant for today only but the way everything is moving, this market must to be closed at least for 2 weeks.

MARKET HOLIDAY ON 17TH MARCH 2020 (Tuesday)

In view of the Government declaring a special public holiday for three (3) days effective from 17th March 2020, the Colombo Stock Exchange has declared Tuesday, 17th March 2020 as a market holiday. Accordingly, the market will be closed on 17th March 2020.

This is to minimize public interactions in curbing the spread of COVID-19 and to ensure the safety of all market participants.

Closing market for few days is not bad for anybody.. But good for many including economy.. But closing it for 2 weeks etc, may affect some who want to sell for urgent cash..So Govt can close the market 3 days, then open 1 day.. close again for 2/3 days etc..till it stabilises.. Stabilise does not mean going up or not going down...

Exactly.. Why market to be stopped for 30 minutes if closing the market is not a solution? No need a regulator...

Special situations require special solutions..Letting market to crash only helps few, but affects many including the economy...
