Last week there was a topic about a few movies. Because it mentioned a torrent it probably got deleted. It would be nice if the moderation is done a bit considerately. For example deleting the mentioning of the torrent and keeping the posts about the movies would have been nice. Because people missed a good post about some must see movies about credit. Thanks 'tinyman' and 'invest____'(?) Can't remember the second poster.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_Job_%28film%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Too_Big_to_Fail

Both are about the financial crisis of 2007–2010. 'Inside job' is a documentary with interviews with real people critically discussing and bashing the people involved. 'Too big to fail' is a dramatization based on that giving bit of hero image to the big guys who were involved. So better watch the inside job first.

In the financial crisis the financial companies were in trouble. In CSE, companies are not in trouble but investors of those companies are in trouble holding massively overvalued shares. (Companies are in trouble if they depend on the share market investments profit. Some do.)

Comparison
Capitalized words are changed.

Financial Crisis
HOUSE prices were soaring people bought more and more HOUSES on credit that they couldn't afford. BANKS gave more and more credit because they got more profit. Because more people were buying on credit there was high demand so HOUSE prices were massively overvalued. There came a point where it was too much. Then HOUSE price bubble burst. People couldn't pay the debts. BANKS couldn't get the money bank. The highly overvalued REAL ESTATE were worthless. Even foreign companies didn't come to buy them because they were massively overvalued. Everybody was waiting for the government to bail them out.

CSE Today
SHARE prices were soaring people bought more and more SHARES on credit that they couldn't afford. BROKERS gave more and more credit because they got more profit. Because more people were buying on credit there was demand so SHARES were massively overvalued. There came a point where it was too much. Then SHARE price bubble burst. People couldn't pay the debts. BROKERS couldn't get the money bank. The highly overvalued SHARES were worthless. Even foreign companies didn't come to buy them because they were massively overvalued. Everybody was waiting for the government to bail them out.

About rating agencies
(E.g. Fitch in USA) They show their profits have soared. Many finance companies get AAA rating. Funds rely on them and invest in those. Then we see many of these AAA financial institutions fail. Remember many of the chemical company shipments which were tested positive for arsenic got gold awards for good cooperate responsibility and transparency in Sri Lanka. So be careful with positive ratings. But worry about negative ratings.

Watch it if these movies come to your nearest theater. Smile

It would be nice if the local television channels show these movies. Probably with good subtitles using an expert in simple language. Probably at the same time Prathilaba is shown. Smile

@ Wis with ur post i cn understand the situation Smile

but my question is all companies are overvalued ?? hw to get thm away ??

still many posts over here this is this much undervalued ......... & so

many companies under net asset of the company
many companies posts healthy profits
many companies hold very good management
many companies may has great future potential

with this kind of issues y foreign investors leaves the mkt ??

y only bubble share's moving & rule the mkt

Bcz im still on investing in CSE ... (my return is very lower than comparing with losses which i made) I'm expecting my returns aftr 2-3 years Razz & some of them for very long term

still i'm finding money & try to put over here ...... still i'm on confusion Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

All true. Companies are not in trouble. They're doing all great, may be, except for the investment trust companies. It is the value we pay is the problem. So the share prices have to come down slowly. (soft landing)
