Seems like this will rise, a lot of interest building. Their next few quarters may be good. Govt. is also looking to get private hospitals to treat COVID-19 patients.

This means no-one else will go to this hospitals  Very Happy.
No channeling.
No pharmacy sales etc.
And people will not go there for a long time even after the pandemic is over bcz of fear.

Its too early to say whether this could really boost or crash hospitals bottom lines.

Master D, I think you are wrong!

What it means is these two hospitals are fully equipped with specialize teams and facilities to treat C19 Patients! separate treatment facilities are been setup and not with the common patients! Anyone with would like to have bit of luxury, definitely would like to visit a private hospital for such treatment!!

This is certainly a good business for NHL and LHCL hospitals!
Imagine 7,500-10,000 were charged in quarantine hotels per day, and people were so happily walked into them for two weeks and I'm sure this is certainly a welcome message to everyone! Also this will easy off the burden on government healthcare system as they are already fighting for capacity.

This is not a Buy/Sell recommendation.

Rest of the statement mentions “ steps are being taken to introduce a system to convert hotels into Covid treatment facilities operated under these private hospitals”

This means normal hospital operations will not be impacted for other patients.

Army Commander reveals details on Private Hospitals /Hotels being used to treat Covid patients
      December 17, 2020

The Covid Task Force has made arrangements to facilitate coronavirus patients who wish to be treated at private hospitals, Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said.
The Head of the Covid Task Force said discussions were held on obtaining the services of private hospitals after taking into consideration the prevailing coronavirus situation in the country.
Speaking to Ada Derana, the Army Commander said apart from all Government hospitals, Military quarantine centres were also converted into treatment facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Out of the over 8000 Covid patients detected in the country nearly 65% are admitted to hospital. A number of intermediary treatment facilities are those that were initially operated as quarantine centres.
Lt. Gen. Silva said a number of Covid patients insist on receiving treatment at private hospitals, as they are not used to the washroom facility and other services of the General hospital, while they also prefer being treated in private rooms.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the Covid Task Force to study the matter and take necessary measures in this regard.
The Army Commander said several discussions were held on the matter, including a meeting with private hospital representatives last week.
Among several private hospitals in Colombo that were reached out to, Nawaloka and Lanka Hospitals have consented to provide their assistance in operating Covid treatment facilities.
As a result, steps are being taken to introduce a system to convert hotels into Covid treatment facilities operated under these private hospitals.
Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva said these treatment facilities are being established to largely treat asymptomatic patients. (NewsWire)[/size]

This implied that other major hospitals such as ASIRI & HEMAS did not offer their assistance to provide C19 treatment facilities? (Lanka Hospital anyway owned by the Govt institutions). This is Bad!

May be they just want to maximize profits with their own facilities. ASIRI has 3 own hospitals in Colombo (Medical, Surgical & Central) and 3 more fully equipped regional hospitals (Galle, Matara & Kandy). So, I think they have an obligation to allocate one of their hospitals (either Galle or Matara) and support to treat a few hotels based treatment facilities as well, even at a cost. Because ASIRI earns profits by massive PCR volumes too.

HEMAS & Melstrcrop own/manage 2 hospitals each in Colombo surberbs.

Read the article carefully, it says’ among the many private hospitals in Colombo that were reached out to’,  NHL & LHCL selected

So ASIR and Hemas too may have offered their assistance, but government selected only NHL & LHCL

Makes sense if they didn't then. Less burden to Asiri, Hemas and others.

NHL really? lol 506% loss last Q, so is LHCL. There's a drop in active patients anyway. Vaccination prog. to begin in Feb.

ASIR doing way better. Good Q results expected and positive future growth. Resistance observed in 31-32/=, likely to go up steadily soon.

Disclaimer- holding ASIR
