Sanga is he a real hero? He play cricket for himself, not for the country. He worry only about his avg, he never worried the team. His concern is more commercial adds and IPL.
He betrayed our country at sudda ppl.
He is showing his true colors now.
He made enough bucks by representing the our country. Now he can live anywhere he want. There are parties willing to give him shelter for delivering such speeches against sri lanke, especially under current situation.
There must b problems. He was a team captain. So he must have a little bit of gray matter to think.
Just think If Sanga was out of team due to political influence..... To day sanga is NOBODY.

Mahinda Rajapaksha is a political leader of this country(not a Cricketer)
As a country we have signed the UN Treaty.
Please refer the UN Civil and Political protocol. It says if any authority/government violate the fundamental rights,if the the victim has not solution in his country or legal system he is entitled to report to UN since Sri Lanka has signed that protocol.(It has been signed during UNP regime.) Then
Mahinda Rajapaksha has done according to the international law and the UN protocol which accepted by the UNP regime.

Are you trying to leagalize the Channel 4 war crimes report by saying anyone can report to UN & as SL has signed the UN Treaty ..UN has powers to intervein in SL affairs...?

As a politician MR can go to UN the highest place where any one can report HR violations,

Sanga can go to ICC , The highest place where any cricketer can report corruptions as SLC is bounded by laws of ICC...

Understand the difference..SANGA didn't go to UN or he did'n talk of HR...He made the speech to ICC & regarding Cricket.... Sanga never spoke against the country He pointed his finger to Sri Lanka Cricket...where 2.5bn has gone missing with 2 HDs which contains the accounts of all WC 2011 cash transactions....!

Dear friends,
Pls lets stop this talk. I think its not the purpose of this forum to discuss political or cricket problems. If this affects CSE lets point out them.
I gained nothing out of cricket nor from country's politics.
I think most others the almost same..

In my view, Sanga hasn't done anything wrong. He is a classy cricketer and a true gentleman on and off the field. Just don't forget the massive workload he has carried out himself as the captain, wicket-keeper, one-down batsman, anchor of the innings and even as the attacker. A lot of burden fell on himself mainly because SL batting line up had a bunch of picked up players from time to time instead of a genuine middle order. Sanga has done a tremendous work to keep Sri Lankan flag flying high, and I again request you, please don't forget that.

I listened to the one-hour long speech, completely. It was a wonderful and emotional explanation of Sri Lanka, its people, their values, how they have embraced cricket, how cricket united them all and brought joy and courage in difficult times, PLUS of course the fate of cricket today and how it needs to be revamped.

Sadly, most media (both foreign as well as local) highlighted that Sanga slammed the cricket administration. They completely forgot the essence of his speech which was the spirit of cricket in Sri Lanka and the success story of cricket outside the traditional playing nations. May be those who are opposing Sanga might have read or listened to only to that part the media has reported. I don't know what state media had reported but it would be amazing if they haven't only picked that part where Sanga said that his first coach was shot by JVP during 1988-89 time. That is the nature of Sri Lankan media today.

CLICK HERE to download his full speech, and listen yourself.

The ICC has taken a strong stand against political interference in cricket administration at its recent annual conference, giving member boards two years to become democratised in a bid to improve governance.

Sanga took the correct avenue to expose the corrupted cricket adminstration and not the country. Atleast Sanga took the first step to save cricket.

Anyone think that our administators would have listened to this if Sanga made the same speech here.

Now this has got more attention because he made it to get more attention.

Sanga did this to save SL cricket. A selfish man would never take such risk. Anyone can imagine the risk and repurcussion Sanga will have to face for this speech.

Let Sangas act make ripples throughout the entire Cricket Board.
hats off to Sanga

Sanga is a great player no questions what so ever. But his speech only adds a black mark against Sri Lanka. We already have more than enough black marks.
The world does not get anything except “Sri Lanka is a corrupted country” from his speech. They don’t want to hear how this happened or when.

We always tend to follow things so blindly & never want to face the reality. It is same at CSE, Politics, Sports etc.

At CSE- We followed manipulators so blindly and bought the junk from them at high. Also spoiled many good counters. At last we are now blaming the regulators.

Politics: I don’t want to talk. Sri Lankans don’t know when we need to dump them after use. It is always other way round.

Sports (Cricket): We were very lucky to go up to world cup Finals & need to give full credit to Sanga’s team. At the moment also we are playing our level best. We don’t have true fast bowlers (except Malinga), When it comes to batting we only have Sanga and Mahela. The rest is pretty average.

Sri Lankans a bunch of people live in a dream world. That world is filled with high expectations but the reality is far from the dream.

P.S Some people may think that I support SL politicians NOPE thats the last thing you can imagine. THE TRAIN IS LONG GONE.

This is only a matter of personal thinking...

revealing the truth about corruption is not a adding black mark to the country. This is not a matter of sovereignty, this is matter of corruption which should fix for the better governance. Revealing corruption is not a thing to be shamed. They happen every where(ICB and L Mody) in the world. But if authorities not taken actions against corruptions then it would be black mark.
Now Mahindananda has to take actions against the corrupted people (not against Sanga) to save the Sri Lankan Image. If he take action no one can say SL is a country with corruption but if he is not able to do then it would be a black mark.

I agree that Sanga is a fool. Otherwise he will not tell the truth about the corruption since 96. Now most of the people blaming Sanga, but no one talking a single word about corruptions. Corrupted people has become heros and Sanga has become traitor.

No. Ask Sanga to come with facts/proofs. If he can provide proofs about corrupted members Mahindananda can take actions. Crimes or probes are not time depended if the corrupted officers are still alive

Corruption is corruption no matter who done it. Hashan hasn't revealed anything upto now. He only says that. I think you know only little about that case. Players including Sanga asked Hashan to give the list to ICC. I am not trying to depend Sanga. If he like to play for IPL that is his preference but not a corruption. Preference is not a crime or dangerous than the corruption. But I don't think Sanga will depend IPL or ICB. He revealed about external factors.

If you heard the full story about Lasith Malinga's case you will never talk about sprit of Sri Lankan cricketers.
When he get injured he has dismissed even from the contract by SLC. He received nothing from cricket board. How he live with injured body ?

He mentioned some lovely things about the Sri Lanka.it brought tears to peple's eyes.he only said that we hav a corrupt administration which is widely known through out the world.he had the backbone to say it.CB Ratnayke who was the ex sports minister said that SLC was the 3 most corrupt place,i know it for a fact - i am involved with the slc and the media for some time

he was only the 2nd man to reciev a standing ovation at Lords after desmond Tutu.Peopel who dont knwo jack about cricket talk of how we cud in the WC final after sachin and sehwag got out...hahhahha.that shows the clear lack of knowldge in cricket.

Kumar Sangakkara should get a life ban for bringing Sri Lankan cricket into disrepute. No cricketer had done as much damage as sanagkkara had done, causing once war ravaged country on the brink of recovery back into it's dark age to fulfill his own personal aspiration through gross condemnation of the country sport administration in the eyes of the international community. It just speaks loads of his character as a cricketer and lawful citizen of this country. He should be prevented from returning to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka should not win World Cup: Newspaper
Colombo, Feb 11 (PTI)

In a surprising move, a Sri Lankan newspaper today urged cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara to not win the World Cup, fearing it would help the controversial interim committee strengthen its position.

The privately-run but pro-government 'Island' newspaper said Sangakkara should not win the tournament for the "sake of the country.""Call me a traitor, a quisling -anything," said the paper's sports writer Russell Palipane.

"I don't want Sri Lanka to be the champions of the cricket World Cup 2011!"
Palipane argued that the current interim committee, which runs the game, will make use of a cup victory to consolidate its hold on office without facing elections.

"Just imagine what will take place if Sri Lanka emerge champs. D S de Silva (the current head of Sri Lanka Cricket) and his cronies who make up the Interim Committee will claim it was their doing."

The writer also took swipes at two other key cricket officials."Kumar (Sangakkara) dear, please spare the country. Don't win it, for the majority of this country are nothing but a pack of jokers, like that former Chairman of Selectors (Asantha de Mel), about whom Marvan Attapattu (former skipper) had a few things to say, before he retired from international cricket."

The 'Island' outburst comes amid attempts by Sri Lankan authorities to galvanise support for the national team for the biggest event of the game.Local radio and television stations have been adopting their own songs and video clips to shore up support for Sri Lanka, which won the trophy in 1996

Punishment for the truth. What are we going to do for the corrupted politicians? Evil or Very Mad What sanga delivered is 100% truth. I think he has done the right thing at right venue. He had that guts to do that. He was not selfish.
