This is awkward as it is the first new topic i'm posting but this is slightly important to me. I am a bit strapped for cash and I don't want to sell my shares at a loss and I hold a few thousand shares of HOPL and they've announced a 4rs dividend which would be a much needed cash injection for me.

The announcement was done some time ago but dates haven't been given? I'm worried that they may amend the dividend or cancel it or postpone it for much later.

I'd appreciate any news someone may have in regard to what and when this dividend is happening.

There were no amendments and there were no further announcements as far as I know. They must have had their AGM on 29th July but do not know the outcome. Must be sometime soon...

My guess is they'll give the dividend towards the end of this month. You might have to hold for another week or two.

Item 2 on Agenda of HOPL AGM on 29 July 2011 is declaration of first and final dividend of Rs 4.

So we can expect the dividend to be paid in early August.

Last year for example, HOPL AGM was on 20 Aug 2010, and share went XD (Rs 1) on 23 Aug, with payment on 1 Sept.

Very unlikely that HOPL will cancel, postpone or amend dividend - but where will share be when it goes XD this time ? It was around Rs 70 I think when dividend was announced in early June. And remember that sahre price may fully correct down for dividend once it goes XD.

I think this will go to 70s before the div dates come in.. just an assumption in an upward market.. 63-64 seemed like a good base to me..

HOPL is a good company in plantation sector with lowest forward PER,HOPL is solidly keep its value around 65 levels,so it seems hard to break this base..i would glad to get the dividends quickly Very Happy

,but dividends are yet to be recommended by shareholders at AGM on 29th july at Srilanka foundation institute. Sad

feel to sell off and go for another counter Crying or Very sad
