Progress of RAL in terms of profit growth was reduced in last quarters due to extremely higher cost of raw material - coconuts.

They and their competitor managed to retain the sales by increasing the selling price by making 400g pack into 300g.

Now the prices of nuts came back to lower levels thus making cost of production possibly lower than earlier. However, the selling prices are maintained at the adjusted levels by both producers.

This could be a favorable situation for them to have better profits.

Have any idea pl ?

Buy COCO if you think RAL is a good share! You get a better deal buying COCO than getting RAL !!

Ps:- Just had a glance at the 2 reports and have to say with the current share prices the people who buy RAL as a good investment must be mentally handicapped.

RAL has released its June 2011 results, even though it doesn't need to as it is a Diri Savi Board company, and it has not released quarterly results in the past. Not surprising then that the numbers are better than last year.

1Q FY12 net profit is Rs 68 mn (EPS = 17 cents) at group level.

At Company level it only made Rs 17 mn in 1Q FY11, and Rs 141 mn for the full year FY11 (unaudited, as annual report still not out).

Revenue has more than doubled yoy in 1Q FY12, with GP margins also up sharply and strong cash generation.

I do not think you can get a reasonable turnover for canned Kurumba Locally.

They are interested in exporting. The supply is high. Many products from Thailand and Philippines are coming to the world market. I think Thai is better.
Most of them are sweetened by adding sugar. Taste of Sucrose is a problem in current products. Hence there is a room for improvisation.

I think RAL is having a joint venture for exporting their products to Europe. Hence competition may not become a problem.
