Until some relief comes if there is no force selling clients can be kept attracted to broker firms. .....Then the ranks become positive. Market would show stability, SEC monitoring those events may grant concessions. .....Corporate earnings are good economy is in good shape compared to rest of the world. .... Smile Smile

The only time I used a broker is to place buy/sell orders at a time I did not have a PC. I used to go there to collect cheques and I get bought/sold notes by post.
They now call me when there is a payment on the T+4.

I have never got a good piece of advice. According to the above posts that I guess all the brokers are in the same boat. Are they giving us a service in par with the broker fees they get?.It is soemthing to be looked into by relevant authorities as it will be fair for all parties to a transaction.

Yes good suggestion if a client does not want a financial adviser he should be charged less commission from the broker firm I think lot of members in the forum will agree with me with this suggestion Smile

yes, in other countries we have broker "service" fees charged for serviced accounts and online software where users can do the transactions alone online at a hugely discounted price. I've been doing the second type all alone and paying the broker 'service' fee all the time for the crooks who told me to buy pump and dump shares.

I suggest that you should not trade with any trading members.. They are soo crap.. I have experiences of funds being misused.. But you can not complain to the management because from top to bottom they are irresponsible...

It is eveident from this forum of the disdain there is towards brokers.
actually they are more than happy to keep your portfolio under thier names and earn brokerage.

The only thing they do is manipulate and if at all give "advice" which helps them either pump up volume in a certain stock, provides them an advantageous position to appease a HNWI or just support one of their "bet horses " a few of them decide amongst themselves.
Short of naming and shaming this is a very common practice amongst these vermins today.
i have been trading in the market for over 15 years and this situation has percipitated over the past 3-4 years.
Brokers are supposed to be investment advisors... what advise do they give..

e.g. - sell a stock when it begins to run on a particular day and then re-buy same quantitiy at the end of the day at about 15 % premium. I am talking in quantities of 10,000 - 50,000 shares.
Buy particular shares many days after inital buy order was disssued at premium prices... it is done when the broker is " free" with no trades to exceute.

Using CDAX sometimes is not a viable option due to time zone differances and the inability to place buy orders of certain volumes sans cash in till.

These forums are filled with people highlighting short-coming in terms of the SEC and regulation / insider trading.
Have the regulators ever come down hard on the brokers ??? No
Have the regulators ever required Brokers to adhere to a certain levle of ethics and standard practices ?? No ( i guess this is reflective of the present state of the country)
Brokers just do nothing and earn money similar to our ministers....
there are numerous occasions of negligence and outright fruad that have occured, what have the internal compliance (if any) of these firms done.. what has the SEC done... nothing.
I think its high time on-line trading platforms are re-vamped.
Brokerage should only be paid when the broker proivdes advice and exceutes transactions.

Its high time these unethical bottom-dwelling scum called brokers are bought to task and a few are made examples of.

Perhaps the proposed "UNION" would help in achieving this but unfortunately nothing much were heard after the initial flurry.

don't u think that the clients also have to share part of the blame. Who asked them to buy purely on the so called "investment advisors" word. You need to do some home work yourself. Two things come to my mind, "buyer beware" and " a fool and his money are easily parted"

Sorry but I feel that we should educate ourselves so that we don't have to be victims of the hora brokers

Machang as much as I agree with you on this, don't you think the brokers should advice us based on fundamentals, market trends etc etc.... Like the education we receive from participating in this forum.

How many brokers would know the EPS of 10 companies trading in the CSE?

most of the so called investment advisors in many brokerages are A/L passed people sans any professional qualifications other than to operate the trading systems and people skills at times.

I think we all go for the most talked about companies to open accounts and they are the ones which have most problem (I'm guessing)
I can say that even though I do not have an account with JB cos it's a bit off from my place, they are better that the rest.

I totally agree with you to a certain extent.

The caveat emptor : "Buyer Beware" actually applies to the law of property. But yes can be lossely applicable to any sdort of situation. HOWEVER:

when you for example obtain banking services you can do all the pre work possible but you pay a price because a "banker" has a duty of care and obligation to do right by his client.

You cna do all the reserch on an illness / hosiptal care etc, but a doctor is in effect an advisor who is dutiy bound to provide a due level of care and dilligence. The same applies to a lawyer.

Take hotel and restaurants - again all the review etc will only make you make a decision. Final delivery, clenliness, hygine etc is upto the person who provides that service.

As a trader what a retialer needs to be "aware" is that if he /she trades via an internet trading platform or directs a broker to purchase on their behalfs they do run a risk of pruchasing a stock item where you may not know all the intricasies or technical details and may be drvien by a heard mentality.
However the prupsoe of a broker / investment advisor is to provide that guidance and duty of care to ensure that the broker does correct by their client. That may be just a simple advice of not to follow the herd mentality, aviod a purchase or provides alternatives. Thats all they need to do.

What i keep harping on is the moral and ethical fibre that these brokerages lack. the SEC is hand in glove with such insittutions .....
All I am mooting is a stronger regulatory environment with imparital and objective individuals at the SEC and much stronger broker regulations and monitoring... all this insder trading issues will be circumvented to a great deal if this can be achived.

I agree because I remember when the crude oil prices were starting an upwards gallop once, I asked my so-called adviser to buy some plantation sector (Rubber) shares but he was giving me some other stagnant share recommendations.

Thank God I was strong willed and made a good gain later when the oil prices passed the traditional bench-marks.
