Hi guys

I studied CSE since December 2010 daily. Basically I focused on short term investments, Because I need to increase my portfolio value upto 1 Mn in short period of time (Start with 200,000).
Most time in trading, I purchased at low price then there is a rally and then price getting low. I sold at a loss. According to my history in trading I found there is a weakness when determining correct selling point. Please advice me?
I invite all resource persons please give your ideas..

it s common for all of us, Unless you are a long term investor.

When you invest in short term or even for that matter medium term, You generaly determine the exit point by analysing the stock at the point of entering.
Generaly you donot plan for timelines, only plan on percentages. Once you hit your target you exit.simple as that. Time taken to hit your target could be an hour or a couple of years.
No one in the market can predict the future price of a stock ( unless you are a manipulator Very Happy

)

So it s up to you to determine the exit point,

Basically you must train your mind to be satisfied with reasonable gain rather than be greedy to grab every cents possible.

Also you have to train your mind not to feel over cautious when you need to wait until some reasonable gain is accrued to you.

Further, try to be slow while being steady when you take decisions.

do not sell when stocks move upwards.................. when it reaches the top and start declining , that is also after careful observation

How Important RSI for day trading. Thing is Sometime RSI shows upward trend, But suddenly it show a downward trend. ?
Also how important technical analysis in CSE? have anybody success ? please let me know your real experience.

Never keep a sell order , when the buyers are there sell a small quantity at a time.... when ever there is a large sell order all the others sell below that level order remains unsold…. ....let the buyers demand......

When price goes high sell 50% of the shares and keep the other 50% since you can not judge the market trends easily.

Once u have solid exit plan of ur purchase share i think u can sell. cos if u have more greedy it make can come down.. it happen to initially when is start investing.

Now wt i do i have exit plan of my all investment one it come to exit level i will sell my share whether it go up further and buy another undervalue share at that time.. since market go down also now i have less loss compare to ASPI down...

When is a 'good time' to sell a stock?

We talk a lot on what kind of stocks to buy. The answer to this is a simple one. Buy companies that are fundamentally sound. Have a management that has an excellent track record. And most importantly the companies should be available at a discount in terms of valuations. But a question that is equally important is when should one sell a stock? Is there a prescribed good time for this?

Well the answer to this is simpler that to the first question. One should not sell a stock for any reason except for valuations. Let us try and elaborate this further. Owning a stock should be like owning the entire business itself. And when one is the business owner, one really does not look at the market prices. Whether prices go up or down, it is irrelevant. What is relevant is how the business is performing. And if the business performance is not up to the mark then the point to be thought about is are corrective actions being taken to rectify the same?

As an investor too one needs to follow the same philosophy. True if the company's fundamentals are deteriorating and the management is not taking any corrective action, then one should definitely sell the stock. But if this is not the case, then the only other reason to sell the stock would be that the prices no longer justify the underlying fundamentals. When this happens it means that Mr Market is assigning a price that is way too high. And eventually the price will have to fall to start reflecting the stock's intrinsic value. This is a clear indicator to sell the stock. While the stock may continue to go up even after the sale but it is wiser to be careful rather than being sorry. Because when the tides turn, these overvalued stocks are the first in line to nosedive.
