presently DIST has huge cash reserve as per 31.12.2010 results, and subsequently they got the cash from NAMAL as well. They also in the process of finding a buyer for lankabell. All these will lead to higher cash which they will invest in the projects. Last year they paid a dividend of Rs. 2.50, so they might pay little more, so i am waiting to see their investment plans, they might keep the money for the port project ( through related companies ). Is there any possibility of increasing their holding in Spence

end of the day it is alcohol business. CTC, DIST, LION also BFL, TAFL are neglected by most of Sri Lankan investor due to ethical reasons. anyway, shares are good. but it reflect its business and we are as shareholders should have to get equal responsibility of such businesses.

personally, I entered BFL and earned huge money out of that, but finally i felt guilty when seeing butchers are in their business. so, i don't want to be butcher nor bar keeper, i decide not to invest in any drugs, animal killings etc.

but you all are free to take decisions, its psychological matter. Idea

I was aware BFL and TAF had been moving but as policy which I adopted from childhoods I was reluctant to invest both, but distilleries are different story it is diversified company including alcohol.

Yes the refund is still to be spent on something . Question is what does HArry j have in mind. Another acquisition, investment, dividend or all? NAMAL sale is being finalized. Lanka Bell is on market.

The whole ethics discussion again!

I personally like the taste of meat, alcohol and tobacco(although tobacco does kill people & people around people). So no qualms with investing in any of these shares. I have more problems with some of these upcountry plantations though.

P.S: the people who don't invest in companies like DIST are usually retailers. Big money as a whole tends to be more practical.
