Dot-Com Bubble:During 1995-2000, if a company had been considered a tech company, its stock price went up. It didn’t matter that the majority of these companies were not making any money. We were in a “new” era. A crazy amount of money, usually from private investors, was being thrown at small start-ups. Big corporations got greedy and acquired every start-up they could. However, the small start-ups were not making money. Big corporations tried hard to make them profitable but since they had no experience in the tech industry they couldn’t. Remember, the site geocities.com? This site was purchased by Yahoo for $3.57 billion. Ten years later, geocities closed down: Greed at its finest.

I red this today and I was thinking whether PCH is in this senario.

However, I had a chance of gaining some money with PCH. I realised it may be riskier.

Hardware selling /BPO / mobile handset selling etc. are different from pure software companies during dotcom bubble. Two different industries, though complimentary to each other.

PCH maybe a bubble but the similarity ends there. PCH is a retailer not very different from SINS or ABAN. It's not an an IT company. This horse has been flogged often enough.

Why u always call PCH as a retail firm?? even though it is listed in IT sector and their core business is selling olny IT product and BPO? ABAN sells household items, furniture etc,.. SIN also same as Abans,

Yes, SINS and ABAN also have showrooms islandwide. They sell computers too. In the case of ABAN I think they probably sell as many computers as PCH. So I think you ought to write to the SEC and ask them to reclassify SINS and ABAN as IT firms. (I believe ABAN group also has a BPO).

And just for your information BPO has absolutely nothing at all to do with IT. It means Business Process Outsourcing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_process_outsourcing

ohh.. poor guy wikipedia gives only general term of BPO so it is not valid to PCH, i do not mean BPO is IT sector.. but it uses IT extensively. i will not write ti SEC becos they will hammer me if i ask to recassify those to IT sector, becos Brown also sells computers and there r lot of companies, and SEC will hv to put that also to IT sector.. here main concern is not they sell computers or not but what is their CORE business... lol! lol! lol! lol!

CAN SINS OR ABANS HAVE THIS TYPE OF INTRODUCTION FOR THEIR CORE BUSINESS??
In its pursuit for excellence in delivering superior products and services to local consumers, the company has entered into a series of strategic partnerships and alliances with globally renowned ICT companies. As a result, PCH has had the honor of delivering globally renowned brands such as Dell, Samsung, Microsoft, Intel, BitDefender, Gigabyte, Power Tree, G&D, Optoma, Kyocera, Noton, Belkin, Corel etc. to the Sri Lankan IT market.

With fully fledged sales outlets throughout the island, an extensive product portfolio & a strong presence in the local market, the Company is the preferred ICT product and service provider for the majority of the Corporate and Retail consumers across Sri Lanka.

The company has 17 regional branches and 10 retail showrooms, conveniently located in the major cities, including the Northern & Eastern Region. This ensures fulfilling the growing IT requirements that have arisen following the post war development.

Travelling beyond its existing business, PCH has ventured into IT infrastructure, system integration and business application solutions via its subsidiary Greenwich Lanka Pvt Ltd (GLPL). Additionally the company has also entered the more lucrative ICT services segments of BPO and KPO through its other subsidiary – Procifinity Pvt Ltd. Future plans include - making an entry into the IDC market, with a wide range of IDC services for corporate clients

Sri Lankas number one IT Company wins Gold at the Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Awards
The role played by PC House Private Limited in the Sri Lankan IT scene has long been that of an innovator. Winning the coveted gold award in the Information and Technology Category at the recently concluded 6th Annual Sri Lanka - Malaysia Business Awards Ceremony further established this title. The main aim of the Awards is to strengthen bi-lateral trade and ties between the two nations while also recognizing the individual contributions of companies toward the strengthening of opportunities for trade between Sri Lanka and Malaysia in the last decade.

DID ABANS OR SINS WIN THIS TYPE OF AWARD FOR IT??????????

Some of the so called analysts in this forum are fundamentally against PCH.

The problem I am seeing in them is that its difficult for them to think outside the box. They got set of shares and they will continue to praise those. When they see some other stock performing well, they will criticize it and make them look like worse shares in CSE.

For example, ECL which has very low EPS (0.13 for 9 months) compared to PCH(0.69 for 9 months), got appreciated to 27.50 on Friday. I couldn't find any post saying that this is bubble, fundamentally it is too high. In fact, one of the admin was saying it will hit 50 soon.

But...

When PCH appreciated from 20 to 22.8.. these people are trying make it look like a bubble.

Let see which is the the bubble in coming months....

It seems they do not know what EPS and PE either. If any one compares the 2 of the shares, any moron would say which is better.

I believe we should buy ECL than PCH if it appreciating more than the latter even it has lower EPS than PCH. however the funniest thing is they criticize PCH about it's low fundamentals and praises ECL Which has even worse fundamentals. What a double standard.[b]

Currently ECL is more stable company than PCH.

EPS and PER are not the only way of assesing a share.

PCH less than 18 is very much bullish.
