Minister of economic development Basil Rajapaksa said the government and private parties were holding talks to draw investments by hotel chains like Sheraton, Raffles of Singapore and DoubleTree, an up-market brand of hotels owned by Hilton.
"Now Sheraton in is discussions with us," he told a news conference. "Also, Raffles of Singapore is to invest in Sri Lanka and having talks with a local investor.
"World-renowned hotel chains are coming here."
Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka rose sharply with the end of the ethnic war in May 2009.
