For last two weeks (since 7th June), both market indices recorded gains except the marginal drop of 3.89 points recorded in ASI on 12th June. Since then, ASI and MPI increased by c.320 (+7%) c. 323 (+8%) index points respectively.
Daily market turnover was Rs.616.7mn. No crossings were recorded during the day.
Volume of the turnover improved by 75% compared to the previous day, the highest volume recorded during the month.
Retail investors dominated the market activities today where HVA Foods recorded the highest turnover of Rs.80.2mn with heavy trading. Further, Cargills Ceylon (Rs.76.6mn) and PC House (Rs.29.9mn) made notable contributions to the daily turnover. Moreover, heavy investor interest was seen in PC House during the day.
Counters such as Citrus Leisure – warrants 0019, Ramboda Falls and Nation Lanka Finance counters (voting and warrant 0021) were among the mostly traded stocks.
Top 25 heavily traded retail stocks closed with positive returns except Ramboda Falls (dropped by Rs.3.30), Citrus Kalpitiya (dropped by Rs.0.10) and Grain Elevators (dropped by Rs.0.50).
Foreign participation was relatively low and it accounted for 4.5% of the total market activity. At the end of the day foreign investors were net buyers with a marginal net inflow of Rs.2.1mn.
