I think you should ask those questions from an analysis. Not form your broker.
(Anyway it is always better to do those by your self)

Dileepa, Broker means investment adviser. We all are having advisers because of, he is specialist/expert/analytic as well as it's his job. Unfortunately many of advisers are getting advise from investors in SL.
Actually I am also doing analyzing. But more information will help us to make proper decisions. That is why even we are in this forum.

My broker is JB. He always says any thing can happen. Never recommend/promote any share.

I consult my investment advisor only to get information I do not have and to test my own opinion on a perticular issue. I discuss issues with them but do not depend on their advice. I have seen both sides learn in the process. Be your own advisor thereafter.

I think that the current run is due to both manipulation of some craps and largely attributabal to international news on future prospects in Europe & America. Availability of under valued stocks with low PER is the foundation on which it began and later fuelled by news plus mani... Other than that there had been no changes in fundamentals or economic policies.

However, so far I see no bubble here. Market is steady and can sustain its growth.

Beaware of craps being promoted.

I will depend on my broker to get the price of Basmati rice.

But if you ask them about share market, they have no clue.

so dont let these people guide you, i know how these people still trying to mislead me, and next day i see what is happening is totally opposite of what they say.

Most brokers might not be market analysts and they will not do technical analysis themselves. Some brokerages have a research division that Brokers can inquire from. But will they do so for all customers requests?

So depending on these guys ( maybe there are a few who are good) might be a waste of energy and time.

I strongly believe most of them don;t update themselves with latest info except for a limited number of shares. Even if you ask them, they might only be able to tell you about limited set of shares they studied or
got info from the vine. Most of them will be clueless if you ask about certain shares.
I believe lot of people might have knowledge of Few number of shares but lot of
people will not have knowledge about lot of share.

So in summary it might be better to figure out resistance levels yourself or get help from people with updated knowledge on market ( like some in this forum).

If yo uare looking for resistance levels, around 6300 has been mentioned several times by several members as the next cruciual level.

But always remember no one has no way to predict 100% as part of it belongs to the future.

Yes, that may be the definition. But it is hard to find such brokers.
Also public forums are not the best place to get investment advises.

What I do is,
1. I do it by my self.
2. Pay for an investment adviser before making a big move.
3. Talk to my unit trust manager.

For me, no 3. is the easiest & cheapest.
That is the main reason for me to keep investing in a unit trust.
You get to know what the fund manager is doing before anybody.

when I started to invest in share market I didn't know anything and I went for backer and met one adviser he bought me the shares at their peak time then latter i myself understood they are not serious about our money they may consider their fees, so what I felt bokers may interest what they loved shares so they will concentrate analysis only for those. therefore now I feel we can see good analysis in this forum and should improve our own skills. cyclops

Most of the broker advisors are good for time passing. Seriously. When you feeling bored just give them a ring n ask about the market & shares. Its so nice to listen to all the stuff they say. You have to have the skills to continue the conversation

Also here n there they might give you some hints.

last week my broker called me and said i should sell my SAMP shares, i asked why? he said one HNWI has sold his holding to a foreign fund, so SAMP price might drop. then he sent me the report of foreign fund buying stake in SAMP from this HNWI.

I was sure samp will not drop, so I did not sell, price was 197, same day samp went up by 2 to 199, and one week after 211.

This is the kind of information we get from brokers..

I hv two advisers. One thinks only ECL and Blue trade @ the CSE. The other one I get the feeling wants to sell either his, his friends or relatives shares to me. I get this strong feeling that this is what he does and maybe to his other clients as well bcos of the way he promotes a share.

I decided not to seek any advise from them and for more than 9 months I have not called them and they have not called me.

I am a much happier person now, with no advisers to dump their junk on me.

They provided wrong TA headlines last year. When investigations started their TA guy has left the country.

I am in the market for well over a decade. Unfortunately, I am still to come accross a broker / advisor who genuinely work in customer's interest.

Always they look at them, especially the small to medium sized customers as lambs in queue to be slaughtered. They posssess Phd. in spontaneous lying.....ring them to listen to lies, lies and lies.....

I trade directly via internet. No interaction with broker, unless my payment is late. Once a week I chat with him about sentiment, but not recommendations.
