Benchmark Treasury bill yields fell across the longer tenures on Wednesday after the Central Bank cut the statutory reserve ratio (SRR) by 200 basis points to 6 percent.

The Public Debt Department of the Central Bank offered maturing bills amounting to Rs. 12 billion at yesterday’s primary market auction for which bids amounted to Rs. 54.7 billion.

The bank accepted bids amounting to Rs, 42.4 billion.

The six month Treasury bill yields eased by 10 basis points to 9.70 percent and the 12-month yield eased 19 basis points to 10.66 percent. The three month yield was unchanged at 8.66 percent.

The Central Bank cut the SRR by 200 basis points to 6 percent in an effort to bring down market lending rates and boost private sector credit growth and the economy (see today’s lead story).

Hi Guys, Do you know any financial company gives you 15% + (or a mini of 14%) fixed monthly return for a less than 18 months deposit? (If you have a senior citizen as a joint deposit holder). It has to be a registered company under CB.

So far I found only valibell finance.

Arpico Finance is quite good. I have deposits with them for sometime. Their rates are the highest that I have found http://www.arpicofinance.com/html/products_fixed.htm
Good company and growing fast with Micro finance. Major shareholders are Alliance finance subsidiaries holding more than 60% and third DP.

CBSL imposes ceiling on Finance companies over the maximum interest rate that they can pay to their customers. Ceiling is xx% interest for 12 month or less deposits. xx% + 3% for over 12 months deposits.
Therefore those are the boundaries that LFC can play. But some LFC offers 13 Month fixed deposits, so that they can give the maximum interest under CBSL's boundaries.

So shop around and see who offers such products.

Yes, applying for listed debentures would be handy at this point. I applied Commercial Credit debentures at 21 % p.a. few months back, but unfortunately smaller quantity. Even HAYL debentures at 14.25 % looks better with this trend. But I do not know whether they are tradable in near future or we have to hold upto maturity.

However debentures always rank below the Fixed doposits.
