The CB has also planned to reveal its final stance with regard to financial companies, soon.
Accordingly, it is said that the prevailing number of financial companies are to be reduced to 20. At the present, there are around 50 finance companies functioning in the country.
Presenting Budget 2014 recently, President Mahinda Rajapaksa has said that out of the 48 prevailing financial companies in the country, only 20 of them possess assets worth at least Rs. 20 billion.
It is said that the government expected similar outcomes by providing tax relief to merge these companies.
Though it is mandatory to list the company at the Colombo Stock Exchange, only 15 out of these 48 license holding companies are CSE listed.
It is said that some of these are even yet to complete basic requirements for them to be listed in the CSE.
