Customs Duty

Presently 4 tariff bands are applied for customs duty
i.e. exempt, 7.5 %, 15 %, 25 % and a fixed higher rate.

New proposal
exempt, 15 % and 30 %

Annual Emission Test Charge

A fee charged on the certificate of emission test will be enhanced to Rs. 5,000.

Abolish all the vehicle permits granted under different schemes to Govt servants ,  politicians and to Parliamentarians.

to increase the Embarkation Levy from USD 25/- to USD 30/-. This will be applied for both ship and air passengers.

Sale in the Domestic Market by Export Oriented Companies

Export oriented BOI companies will be permitted to supply upto 5 % of its products to the local market

to impose an annual fee on all the registered companies collectible by the Registrar of Companies. Further in order to discourage  voluntary registration, I propose to charge Rs. 500,000/- on voluntary liquidation of companies

To avoid Sri Lanka being a dumping ground, the importation of used washing machines, used TVs and used mobile phones will be banned with effect from January 01, 2016

propose to impose a fine of Rs. 10,000/- in addition to the damages to the public property, in case of a road accident.

To address the short supply and high prices of building materials such as steel, tiles and sanitary ware, import related duties will be revised downwards. Further, I propose to remove tiles, ceramic, and sanitary ware, from the negative list of the BOI.

good budget, i didnt expect this kind of budget from ravi . he was in my negative list. now i have removed him from my negative list after the budget.one good thing is removal of permit from government and mps. this is a bad bribing method used by MR.Ravi must stand firm to implement this proposal.reduction of tax on electronic etc is also a good one. this will improve tourism and trade.and to bringing in manufacturing firm in to country. dubai is using this system. the import tax os only 4%. dubai became a world trade hub because of this. it had attracted almost all the famous manufacturers to open up factories.we should slowly get out from subsidy dependent  economy.

Very good move to reduce the monopoly power over the TILE market by RCL.....

Also Consumer authority should reverse take over of TILE,Wall Tile by RCL to prevent Monopoly in Tile market.

I dont want to pay LKR10,000 per 2x2 Rocel tile in future.
