What do you guys think about HOPL.....? Is it worth to buy.....?
Question Question Question

Many companies had - EPSs due to wage issue. Few companies might have shown positive eps ( tricky) due to not reporting the gratuity and some wage backpay.

One group of companies reported + eps even after taking care of gratuity and wage hike. Can you guess? KGAL and NAMU. ( ofcourse RICH reduced management charges as courtesy) but they reported + Eps.

If interested in plantations best is to look at the facts I mentioned and identify the share which has the strongest potential to recover. ( I am talking medium term investment).

If for short term, it is different story as any of the beaten down share from time to time can have small upward movements.

this is not a recommendation. but if you ask me what i'm doing with RICH, collecting!
Dr. Sena Yaddehige is a very competent person who drive the arpico group to this extend. this business will not bankrupt due to low performance of group. business is an art. the chairman know the art.
with future palm oil business as well as from their other operational activities they may shine future. good stock to keep eye on in long term. now it is trading at attractive price.
this is just my personal view only. don't use this to make any buy/sell/hold activities.

I didn't refer traders. For investment this is not good time. you can buy all plantation shares at lowest level in near future. As most of the wage allowances were not properly recognised in last qtr. So this qtr will get affect. wait and see you will very rarely see positive qtr report in plantation companies.

Due to wage high they have adjusted the gratuity provision last qtr accounts so most of the company show losses cos of that. may be some of the company adjust provision on Sep qtr. I think by Dec qtr plantation sector will rally..

perhaps you may be correct. but RICH is not a pure plantation based company. the arm is controlling a big area. 10~11 is very good price to collect if you asked me. if you want the rock bottom and if you can identify it, best of luck. for me, this is a good price to collect for long term.

Many thanks Optfo for all in one on plantations.

Some plantations like KGAL had not the best last quarter. Usually their last 2 year EPS was over 25. Also some plantation had a very good last quarter. Taking nothing way from optfo for his effort, just note that last Qx4 is just a guideline.

BTW, did anyone notice how KAHA one of the poorest in performance out of the group so far mostly held its price during the deep fall. When stronger earning companies like KGAL once at Rs 280 went to Rs 75, MAL Rs 12 to Rs 3+, KAHA went to 25 from Rs 40+ at the peak. Make you wonder of the shareholder mentality Arrow

If there is a run, some plantations has some serious catching up to do Wink

Hallelujah.

Appreciate your efforts and time like I said before. Lot of people like to talk gossip , follow the heard, some try to show off their skills by showing their superior deals hiding others, some either being over postive or excessively negative, few people like you try to talk/educate what we are really here for.

Keep up the good work. Don't know whether you noticed the last line of my signature? Goes with your post below.

Expecting is a good virtue yes . It will save ourselves unnecessary heartache another benefit apart from virtue.

But sadly it is others responsibility to atleast say Thank you ( won;t cost money) if they benefited. When we want we go to pay people to get things done. But when it is free we take it for granted.

Sadly many people need to develop better human qualities.

Money is not everything.

yes, there is one important thing to understand. specially by new commers. That is all about other income-non recurring income like, assets revaluation/capital gain/negative goodwil etc. when we analyse it is better remove that potion & calculate EPS.

But MADU is having good NAV, it will be a good advantage may be,

This is great.Thanks.

When all are looking at counters like MAL , Now i would prefer KOTA due several reeasons. It is one of largest rubber producing companies listed in CSE. Crude oil barrel has reached almost 100 USD / barrel which inturn gives a boost for the natural rubber producing companies. Because with the crude oil prices, systhetic rubber prices also will go up. Cost of production of rubber is less than the cost of production of tea. The proposed quantitative easing by FED will further pave the way to increase commodity prices OIL/GOLD/SILVER/RUBBER in future.

There for my pick is a plantation company which is in the rubber sector. without any hesitation i prefer KGAL as the best managed plantation company. But instead of KGAL i would go to KOTA due to another reason. That is historically they paid a higher dividend. There dividend yield is very much higher than the other compnaies. KOTA price is attractive to me rather than KGAL. HIGHEST TRADED price of KGAL was Rs 285/ & HIGHEST TRADED price of KOTA was Rs 230.

KOTA & KGAL always have the mkt crowd backing. Rapid increase in prices was visible in both these counters.

MAL always have management problams. pay very low dividend. share capital is very high.

This is only my personal view.
