i dont know meaning of private placement.can i buy shares in private placement.

A Private placement = a rights issue that is private. This is a simplified way of looking at it.

A firm can raise capital by INVITING or selecting key individuals to buy shares into the business. Where as, in a rights issue, the application to subscribe to a firm's shares are open to anybody who is interested.

Generally you have to know someone handling the private placement or know someone high in the company to be invited to apply for the private placement. Private placements usually require substantial investments unless you are close friends, which is usually why you see the high net worth investors putting money down and getting much better allocations than if they were to apply for shares at the public offering.

Then what happen happen to the privately placed shares???
do they come to market with the IPO or what???
And how do we know the PP price ???

Bro thats what happened to SHL the guys who had PP sold off their stakes in the first day of trading .
You will be able to have all those details from the prospects.

1) The Privately placed shares get listed with the IPO.
2) Yes when the share hits the market, both the IPO and PP shares are tradeable by anyone who owns them or wants to buy them
3) The PP price should be disclosed in the prospectus. In the case of SHL, the PP price was Rs. 7 while the IPO price was Rs. 29 which is why the share fell over 30% to Rs. 17. The people who bought at Rs. 7 sold at Rs. 29 and made good profits!

PP is only for investment purpose,not for resale Evil or Very Mad

wtz da hell these unethical investors doing Mad

they just sell off in secondary market...this system is getting worse

in SHL-CARS sold their lot at opening day,it is not ethical,this is not the way a investment company should act,this is bad...very bad practice Evil or Very Mad

,this is what we experience by having foolish investors and traders,so CSE downfall is inevitable.

note-not holding any SHL Cool

If I'm right people who bought in a private placement after 31st of April 2011 have to wait 1 year to start trading. But this will not affect the earlier placements such as SHL. Sad
