Yes somewhat...however the volume is discouraging...hope to see more trading in the rest of the week....definitely there are not many sellers at this price now.

Each of us have different reasons to buy. Some buy illliquids and speculatives expecting a quick again. Some gamble with even looing at the company background. Some identify growth stocks. Some buy undervalued counters. To me GRAN is a growth stock . It is not for short term. It is medium to long term stock identifying the natures of poultry market in Sri Lanka. With Growth stocks some pay higher PE expecting future Growth. ( Example Cargills, Lion etc) . When we commit to growth stocks just like any other share we need to leave room for shares price fluctuations. ( down trends)

When Perpetual, Mr Nimal Perera, Mr Ishara N , Laugf all bought GRAN at higher prices ( Rs 205-250) did they all make a mistake? Why did they buy considerable number of shares at that price not knowing that they are buying at a much higher PE than now. Don;t blindly follow them. Ask yourself , if I hold this for 1 year atleast do I think I will be loosing out on GRAN though am at a loss now. Does GRAN have a strong balance sheet now. What are their capacity to expand. Even with a momentory government intervention ( price reduction of chicken, tax issues) , virus scare am I prepared to hold this as I am confident of this company. Why did I buy into GRAN now. Should I be worried about the current loss i made if I considered the above facts?

If you answer NO hold. If you answer yes, I guess you entered GRAN for the wrong reasons and maybe it was a bad decision.

BTW, all the poultry shares are now attractive to me due to the same facts as above( BFL, TAFL,GRAN). GRAN balance sheet is stroger than TAFL. TAFL has some lossses to cover which they will if their profit trend continues. Just note one thing when TAFL increase GRAN will also do so irrespective of conditions. If you believe in TAFL and not GRAN just think about it Wink

Well said Slstock.. I think we've mentioned coupla times the potentiality of GRAN as a med-long term hold.. fluctuations are normal scenarios in this market..
So even if you buy for wrong reasons, then hold onto it for gods sake.. dont lose money by selling low.. its not the end of the world..

With overall market improvement every thing can return to normal. It is an overall issue not confined to individual shares. It is obviously visible in a diversified portfolio. Everybody think only their shares are stagnant. I think all are in the same boat. current prices are atractive.

yes SoundChip even in the medium term these can have gains. Long term would be even better and safer to say so.

Despite the crazy drop in price and other adverse comments from some recently on the forum, I still do believe that Gran is good to hold for the long term. I do hold Gran and this is not a promotion, but for sure with rising income and consumptions companies such as Gran will do well. I too am a newbie to the CSE but I study stocks, read the comments from everyone on this forum and finally make a decision and so far I have been successful. This is my two cents.

Poultry products will definitely have a good market in the island due to the coming festival and tourist seasons ,And also it seems that they have good prospects and their weakened revenue streams will again move positively yielding profits and hence increasing share prices can be expected. They are still preparing for a rally and it will soon be kicked off. Very Happy
