If there is no change in Govt, you cant expect much progress in the market. Though GOTA may not the best, he is the best manager we have seen amongst candidates. Only Super Managers not best democrats who can achieve targets. 3rd World Country needs a higher Development rate to leap forward. We can have best democracy, but with 3% Growth cant go anywhere economically. Many social issues also get vanished with good economic growth. So we have to think more towards economy than democracy. Anyway democracy is not 100%, it is only 50%. Till we become a developed Country and people become self disciplined, we need a sort of enforcer..like GOTA. But his negative aspect is family links which will not allow him to be bold in certain decisions and MR's staled theory of Nationalisation which is against privatising loss making State entities...

Sri Lanka slaps Coronavirus curfew in Divulapitiya, Minuwangoda after Covid-19 patient

ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka has imposed curfew in Divulapitiya and Minwangoda towns north of the capital Colombo to contain the spread of Coronavirus after a Covid-19 positive patient was found Sunday, the state information office said.

“Police curfew has been imposed in Divulapitiya and Minuwangoda until further notice,” the state information office said.

Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi said schools will be closed from October 05 as the patient came from the community.

Fifty-five people are in isolation including 15 hospital staff after the 39-year-old woman from Divulapitiya town was confirmed with Covid-19 at Gamapaha hospital.

“Health authorities are asking the public to exercise caution,” the state information office said.

“Investigations are underway to find how she got infected.”

Her contacts are being traced and 40 persons from her workplace, a private company, had also been home quarantined. Reports said she was working at an apparel firm.

The patient had been admitted to hospital with fever and was tested for Covid-19 when she before she was to be discharged.

She is now that the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) in Colombo.

Sri Lanka is finding a Coronavirus patient from the community after a gap of several weeks.

Recent infections have come from foreign returnees.

Up to October 03 evening 3,395 patients had been confirmed in Sri Lanka and 13 persons had died, Sri Lanka’s health ministry said. (Colombo/Oct04/2020)
