Investors normally create great demand for defensive stocks such as food stocks during period of uncertainty and in the latter stages of bull market. However, globally this trend has changed during last couple of years. They don’t forget to include some food in their plate (portfolio) even any stage of bull or bear market. There is a good demand for food related stocks in good and bad times. Recently some intelligent investors bought food related stocks in Chinese market as they saw coming selloff in other stocks including overvalued stocks.

China might not need as much of Australia’s iron ore and coal as it used to, but its hunger for food will only grow. According to the Australian Financial Review, large volumes of farmland may be over-fertilised and become less productive in China. Listed food related stocks in the Asian Pacific region should benefit lot due to growing demand for food from Asia especially from China. Food production industries could see sustained growth over the coming years.

There are different types of food related stocks available in the CSE.

Poultry stocks: Namely BFL and TAFL
Tea related Stocks: TPL, MASK, UDPL, MPRH (Management Company of Bogawantalawa Plantation (BOPL).
Dairy related stocks: NEST, LMF
Other food related stocks: GRAN, RWSL, SOY and DIST

Currently on valuation and on industry outlook some of the above stocks are very attractive. It is also time to include some food stocks in our portfolio to get above average gain.

Good luck!

During period of uncertainly, investors buy more defensive stocks like food stocks. They are ideal for all types of market situations.

Good luck!

This is an old link. It is interesting to see that currently, about 60 percent of the world’s population lives in the Asia-Pacific region.

Definitely, they will create more demand for food and hot beverages in the coming decade.

Some out of favour stocks will become favourable stocks when we see turnaround or strong outlook in their industry. In addition, they will have demand in the remaining stages of bull market especially in the later stages.

It is also wise to pick stocks in any sector having one of the following as well.

Stocks in the accumulation stage

Break out stocks having temporary pause (need to identify their current base)
Stock changing Weak hands to strong hands
Investors are getting in stocks

Pull back stocks ready to go up strongly
Base building stocks

Good luck!

Similar to manufacturing stocks there are lot of trading opportunities in F&B sector as well. Refer my analysis below.

CCS shows a greater resistance and will definitely a strong stock for long-term investments.

Others like BFL, DIST,RAL,TAFL, etc will hold lot of trading opportunities as they can move high with a slightest market recovery. Please study on your own and try to make some gains to cover up losses. GL. Basketball

Thank you for the effort. There are 12 stocks in the above list. However, all of above stocks can generate strong momentum at any time depend on the market participants and market situation. Identifying trend is key to success. HVA is a kind of stock can go up strongly within a week.

We can screen further and we should find out badly beaten down by investors having strong financials and great value.

Other factors to watch:

Rapid falling in debt
Rising cash flow
Strong industry outlook
Ideal stocks for any type of situation

What a list? I would like to go behind badly beaten ones having strong financials and great value and I should understand the business as well.

Good luck!

This sector has attracted many investor interest. Market PE as of today is 14x but F&B sector has a PE of 17.9x. This alone tells a story to you. Here are some comparisons among different counters.

Lot of companies have recorded more than 20% growth in profit attributable to equity holders. 20% growth in current challenging environment is truly great achievement. That's why this sector has a premium PE than market PE. The good news for you all is that still you can find few stocks who report huge earnings growth this year and still trading @ a single digit PE multiples (highlighted in Green). Green light for you to go after Very Happy

We can consider sector PER 20 or above by considering leaders like Nest and CCS. Agree?
