This is my General view about the advise from the brokers and not about the particular broker you referred here,

It will be useful to have a chat with broker once you decided to buy or sell shares because you will get another person view which might be completely different of yours, buy make sure you take the final decision for your investment

I agree with u,,,,

Final decision should come from you. I normally refer research done by brokers for the counters that i am interested in. I worked in a research department for few months. So i know when they do a research they do have an advantage over a individual analyzing a company. For example they receive unpublished detailed reports, get to chat with directors about future plans, internal contacts review about the performance, compare with other countries of Asia, They have databases which automatically update and calculate whatever you want in secs etc.
Plus the intellectual knowledge is very high. But still there is small bit of biasness as well. Specially when doing financial modeling. The outcome may bit vary according to the perception of the person who do the calculation.

Still broker research reports are tasty food for investors. I am not talking about brokers who do the trading but their research team....

Its true, but however these days number of research reports published very low compare to sometimes back

Well. Gaja explained it better ;-), do your own analysis, refer this forum for more views..

One thing u have to know is.. sometimes brokers have been very fishy when they ask u to buy stocks.. there may be big players wit them that stuck with some stocks where these guys wanna get out.. these big fish being so important to broker, he'd give u advice to buy those useless stocks to make the big fish happy since his lot will be sold...ultimately u en up with trash.. U cant complain know? its ur money u had made the decision..

I'm not saying anything abt Asha, in fact I hav an active acc with them.. but usually i talk to broker for credit or cash requirements nt for advice.. that's my way and it suits me ;-)
What I mention was something happened to a fr of mine (not in Asha) cuz of broker's mislead... And again all brokers are not like that too..

But if u follow broker advices, better thing is to ask ur broker why he feels a particular security is attractive, what developments he expects from it, etc.. there should be a reason for u to believe him to buy a particular security.. cuz if u lose its ur money..

Sorry for the delay.

My comment was not related to any official matter.

Mh.. I think some talking was there about HASU among some big players, supported by some high level analysts and I do not know they collected it or not.

@smallville,

I really do not know why they need more money for their core business. But 2010 report says their profit from investment was higher than the profit from insurance business.

For 2010 y/y EPS was 6.45 including 1.62 for first 3 qtrs and 4.80 for the last qtr .

For the first 3 qtrs income from core business was only 40% and it became 60% in the last qtr. That means income from main business is also getting better.

I think this triggered their interest on this share.
