Tokyo is trading deeply discounted to it's 200 / 20 MA & RSI below 30 as there is significant uncertainty prevailing with regards to its escalating COS due to LKR depreciation and margins deteriorating due to prices being controlled by the gov.

CAA has given the green light for a price hike which is now awaiting regulatory approval. TKYO has also engaged in capacity increment initiatives which will see it add a further 1 mn MT production capacity to its existing 3mn MT. Cement is essential and TKYO is a counter worthy to be monitored.

I personally believe TKYOx should be trading no lower than 60 and TKYO at 74-75 once the price hike is approved.

In a statement, Dr. Harsha Cabral PC, Chairman of Tokyo Cement Company (Lanka) PLC announces that the Company has taken several immediate measures to address the cement shortage in the market. He states that Tokyo Cement is operating its cement manufacturing plant in Trincomalee at the maximum installed capacity of around 170,000 MT per month and will continue to supply cement island wide at the highest output levels. In addition to local production at maximum capacity, the Company has been importing 30,000 MT of bulk cement per month through the Tokyo Cement Colombo Terminal. Dr. Cabral further states that on a request made by the Government, Tokyo Cement has made special arrangements to import additional 12,000 MT of cement per month as an immediate contingency measure to alleviate the cement shortage currently prevailing in the market.
In his statement Dr. Cabral reiterates that Tokyo Cement Company as the country’s largest cement manufacturer will continue to fulfil its national duty at all times by ensuring an uninterrupted supply to meet the requirements of customers across the island. However, there is a shortage in cement availability in the market due to multiple reasons that are beyond the control of the company. First is due to the unavailability of bulk cargo carriers to ship raw materials as well as cement as a finished good. Secondly, considerable delays are encountered in opening LCs with the banks, wherein a process that would typically happen in the same day would now take weeks. These factors contribute in varying degrees to the current cement shortage in the market.
The company is currently expanding its manufacturing plant in Trincomalee to increase local production capacity by a further 1 million MT by deploying state-of-the-art technology. This expansion will firmly establish Tokyo Cement’s readiness to cater to future growth in demand in the local construction industry and reaffirm the Company’s position as the leading manufacturer and supplier of cement in Sri Lanka.

Yes. Results are somewhat bad. But consider this as collecting time below 45. Reson is price hike of cement imposed on mid October. So you can expect good results in coming quarter. If someone can hold /collect this at current price level 20% return is guaranteed.

Almost a 30% price hick over last 3 weeks.
With TKYO not making losses over last Quarter with previous prices gives us an approximate estimate of what margins they would make with the price increase.

Foreign purchase of TKYO amounted to 177,000 shares @ 51/= yesterday. AEL the largest listed construction conglomerate is now on a bull run. Both belong to the same sector and can expect the same trend to be followed by TKYO being the largest cement manufacturer and supplier.

Their revenue is good but highly impacted by the cost of sales (Refer the 2020/2021 EPS below, down by >100% YoY). It was at 70-80 during 2020 with 8+ EPS and now at 55 whereas profitability/PE has significantly impacted. I think we have to wait for next quarter to understand how new price structure going to benefit profitability. (Has strong support at 50)

Rally has started.
Extreme shortage of Cement in the market.
Cement is given only in quantities of 10,20 kg bags in retail, not even 1 full bag is given for buyers.
Order books must over running.
With the price increase, revenue will increase at least 10% and expecting the costs to remain the same, this quarter EPS will be above 5 per share.
I'm not sharing the calculations as the reader should do some analysis before buying Smile

My preference is X as the % of return is higher compared to N, anyway that's my preference.
Expect N to trade above 70 by year end, X to follow.
