Several Fortune 500 companies to be established in Port City Fortune500_companies-and-women-ceos

[ltr]Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna MP S. B. Dissanayake stated that through the implementation of the Colombo Port City Development Project (CPCP), the government is hoping to attract at least three or four Fortune 500 companies into the country.[/ltr]

[ltr]Addressing the media at the weekly media briefing, Dissanayake said 91.7 percent of the development of the country was due to the work of entrepreneurs.[/ltr]

[ltr]Meanwhile, MP Ajith Nivard Cabraal stated on Friday (28) that all investors of all countries are allowed to invest in the Port City.[/ltr]

[ltr]“Only two percent of the companies in this country have more than 100 employees. We need to bring in at least 15 medium-scale investors into the country. Therefore, we need to convert the Port City area into an attractive place which will help local and foreign businessmen,” the Minister said.[/ltr]

[ltr]Responding to questions raised by journalists on whether investors from western countries will have concerns with the involvement of China, Minister of Education Prof. G. L. Peiris at the media briefing said that there is no such exclusivity.[/ltr]

[ltr]“All investors are welcome, whatever country they come from,” he said.[/ltr]

[ltr]He also added that the government has received serious inquiries from investors in western countries.[/ltr]

[ltr]State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal added that some investors have already visited the Port City and showed interest.[/ltr]
