Eric Jin, head of investment support at industrial equipment supplier BMT Asia Pacific, said rising shipping costs, longer transit times and higher uncertainty will be the "new normal" for the shipping industry.

At lest now we know how important Ukraine is. President Biden will give over power to VP Kamala Harris and that will trigger global economic revival. Until "words of re-assurance" comes from responsible leaders, we will have to remain patient. This will all take a few weeks, not more than two months.

The aforementioned news article indicates container shipping stocks will go down in the future??? Won't this apply to EXPO and SG Holdings too?

The following item also indicates otherwise. I think there is a genuine concern about the shipping prices going down also. Wish they address all sides of the story in these forums.

Pandemic is changing but not over, covid cases rise in 110 countries -WHO

'Covid-19, driven by BA.4 and BA.5 in many places, cases are on the rise in 110 countries, causing overall global cases to increase by 20 per cent'

IMO, this could lead to supply chain disruptions leading to high freight rates.

With transportation delays, port congestion, and rising rates becoming more common issues in logistics, United States manufacturers are bringing production closer to home in Latin America.

Many companies are considering near sourcing opportunities for their supply chains, with Latin America offering reliable infrastructure, a strong workforce, abundant resources, and a growing economy.

EFL Global, a supply chain and logistics solutions provider, quickly identified these advantages for its customers. In 2021, the global company acquired IDEA Logistics LLC, a Latin America-based service provider that specializes in warehousing, distribution, and freight forwarding.

Hear from Carlos Castaneda, Managing Director - Latin America of EFL Global, in our latest article below.
