ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s cabinet of minister had approved incentives for investment in the reclaimed Colombo Port City, Minister Bandula Gunawardana said.
The Colombo Port City was reclaimed by China Harbour Corporation and its land is being sold to investors in stages.
Investments will be categorized as those with primary and secondary strategic importance. The cabinet paper was submitted by President Ranil Wickremesinghe as minister for investment promotion.
Special economic zone within the Port City will be dollarized with multiple currencies, freeing from of foreign exchange shortages in the rupee area coming from liquidity injections made by the central bank to mis-target a policy rate. (Colombo/May23/2023)
