Colombo has been ranked among the worst 10 livable cities in the world by the Economist Intelligence Unit's (EIU) Liveability Survey released this month. According to the survey, Colombo is placed 131 out of 140 cities.

Everyone knows that the economist is run by people who hate this country. Personally, i can tell you that a large chunk of DC is worse than colombo.

That's true.These "Para Sudda" is going to spoil our tourism sector.They are trying to send message to the world "Do not go Sri Lanka".

I haven't checked but USA is not in the top rankings in habitable places but no need to compare with them either. USA is not a habitable place. These rankings don't rate by the super highways or high speed trains or sky scrapers either. A city could have steam engines and bicycles and could get a high ranking. Keyword is *habitable*.
If you want to see where we stand, send Sri Lankans in a van and give them toffees. And see what happens to the wrappings.
Only way to develop this city and country is to use the stick like in Singapore.

They are talking of Colombo, not Sri Lanka as a whole ! (As I guess). Anyway it is very necessary to maintain the good name of the country for the sake of everything ! 131 does not mean anything if the total domain is unknown !

Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal questioned the veracity of the information used in the Survey. “People in the city of Colombo can see how much it has improved, if they rank us in the bottom 10 then I don’t know what kind of criteria they are using,” he said

I can't think why they put us in this position. I mean, I waited for a bus in the morning and managed to got into foot board and it stopped at bus halts for 15 minutes, and went on races with other buses and i jumped at my bus halt because it did not stop, I removed my shoes and folded my pants because it was flooded knee deep, i avoided the pavement because there are open manholes and deadly holes, I managed not to get killed on a yellow crossing, and i waited at night for hours because there were no buses.
This is all foreign conspiracy. Look at all the flower pots we keep on roads. They cost 8000 each. I mean look at the progress of the flower pot contractor. That only should keep us in top 10.
