How to check financial statements whether a company has debt or not? or how much debt/borrowings they have made?

If you need a further break down refer the notes to the non current liabilities or long term borrowings

Yes you are wrong on some of the above companies. some of above have huge debt.. good examples are HAYL,CFVF,RICH etc..

I think RICH had 8 billion debt in 2007-2008 they could reduce it to 3 billion last year..

In the past, most of them went for Rights Issue to overcome cash flow issues.
If we want to see the company's cash rich stand we need to analyse minimum 3 years accounts to get a conclusion.
For example JKH was in negative cash flow in 2007.
As Econ said RICH also same story.

I like to highlight some important points here about debt as I understand.,

If a company has debt which is on fixed rate at lower price(rate),even they have huge amount debt,they are comparatively advantaged.,Because the amount that,they bought few years ago has less value now.,simply because the value of rupee drastically depreciated.(This is the case for some companies obtained debt when the interest rates were low)
If a company had foreign debt and paying now are more vulnerable now.(again due to exchange rate differences)
But If a company manage to obtain foreign debt now(recently) and hopeful about rupee will appreciate in the future,If that happens they will be winners too.,So looking at the debt level on the balance sheet itself will not give the correct picture at present situation in sri lanka.,

What do u think about the debt of SHL, LOLC & RICH? are they fixed based or not?

Do you know any companies which have fixed rate based debt? they could be heavily benefited isn't it.
