The upward trend started on last Friday continued for the fresh week. ASI was up by 67.42 points or 1.06 percent to close at 6424.36 while Milanka Index went up by 58.90 points to end the day at 5733.76. Day's turnover amounted to 949.5 million rupees.
Positive September quarter results started to coming out. Chevron Lubricant Lanka Plc (LLUB) posted Rs 603,442,000.00 for the six months ended 30th September 2011 against Rs 395,106,000 .00 for the same period last year. LLUB closed 2.70 higher at Rs 162.70.
Sampath Bank has announced setting up of two subsidiary companies to conduct Life Insurance and Merchant Banking businesses. According to the announcement, Sampath has already received the approval of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka and will make application to the Insurance Board of Sri Lanka for their approval . Sampath Bank shares was up by 4.30 to close at Rs 207.80.
Index heavy weighted Blue Chip John Keells Holdings was down by 3.10 to close at Rs 191.90 while Carsons Cumberbatch Plc lost 7.60 to end the day at Rs 576.00. Sri Lanka Telecom closed at Rs 50.40, down 40 cents.
Foreign investor activity was very low with net outflow of Rs 10,586,312.00.
