Well this has been the stark relaity of this market for years. However this has become more prevalent with more and more money launderers and black monies coming into this ill-liquid market.
Those on this site the typical Ostrich or those who pump various stocks on a daily basis: will provide a multitude of excuses.
However, the reality is that this market is not only the most in-efficient , it is also lacks governance and ethics and the main corruptors of this market are the brokers and so called advisors in this market. Hence the reason why the big funds & managers like CALPERS, Merryill Lynch, Browns Borthers, JPM have minimal or ever dwindling investments in this market.

I can rant over and keep elaborating on such issues... but my sincere advice to all small to medium investors is that this market is going to be another Ceylinco or even bigger disaster. And do not live under the illusion that the bg players will get burnt......
Similar to Ceylinco, Pramuka & HPT the big launderers, murderers, connected people and black money rollers will get their money and it will be you the poor investor holding a can full of proverbial (s- - t).
All of those who burnt their hands on th above transactions are small time investors who were driven by exponential over the market greed of returns more than real return of investment.

Better just put your hard earned money on a deposit in a regualted bank or in land or gold.
Whatever you put into this market : you shoud be prepared to loose (in total), sinmilatr to playing roullette.. else aviod like the plauge.... don t get caught up in fanciful stories especially of the retial brokers and advisors.

What a shocking revelation?
If this free fall of the market is due to lack of these people's black money, what would be the near future?
Is this the best share market some were talking about? Another miracle of Asia.
If the market collapse in this fashion what would happen to our hard earned money?

Share Market started fallen since February 2011 due to various rules introduced by SEC. But this Kudu(drug) shortage happend recently. So I don't think there is a relationship with those two.

I think investors should not be blinded or make statements such as "market has declined due to regulators bring in various rules ". That reflects a lack of appreciation for governance and more understanding of the rudiments of the market.

Ask why a select few are vigourously defying bringin in new regulation. This is to prevent manipulation, bring in compliance in terms of share trading to protect retail players being overly exposed both due to over trading or being misguided, preventing hte market being a place to launder illicitly gained monies etc.

The reason for the steady decline is that investors within the market have no confidence of the siad market and its regulation. Everyone knows that the stocks that perform have no underlying value nor supporting business case. The said stocks are merely backed by indivuduals that have access to black money and launder other peoples ill gotten gains....

Why does stocks with fundamental value and businss stature not make such runs....

This is what you need to understand.

Do not be foolish to say regulators have bought in lots of regulation and hence the market is declining..... If not for those regulation this market would be in a far worse off state... not may be in ASP ior Milanka Index value but more in terms of retialers like yourself being exposed to far greater risk of loosing your monies in overvalued time bomb stocks.

Be astute and strong to appreciate changethat is made for the wider good of all market players and also the reputation of the country.... rather than pander to a few corrupt players and brokers who sully the entire stock market.

Most of our hard earned money is already gone and "Pump & Dump" manupilators, drug dealers and other corrupt b...rs are gleefully counting their profits and buying up Hotels, lands and building exclusive million dollar houses. Poor retailers are holding artificially high value stocks waiting for all mighty to intervene to at least recover their investment. What a bad dream !! And they are still canvassing poor ignorant villagers to invest in the "STOCK MARKET" Aney Mehemath Ratak !!!

Stock market fallen because of a correction which was due, as we saw continuous bull run for around 2 years. 'this is natural to any market and happened since their inception.

It's sad and shocking to read this topic and responses. Some people are trying to panic the average investors. The activity of Shan Wickramasinghe is highly irresponsible and he is trying to take political mileage from the present scenarios.

How deleted and deleted earned money, I don't know. Whether they are black or white I don't know. I am not defending them either. I have start investing in the CSE in 1996 and just thought to enlighten the newcomers about these various adverse articles and comments.

deleted has already announced in a public seminar, how he has earned, He said it’s totally from the CSE. All of us who had investments before 2009 May, have earned about minimum of 20 times by now. I will take a simple example, a non-manipulated share DIMO, which is still trading at very low PER of 3.5 X and I am still buying. Price of DIMO in 2009 April is just Rs.60/-. It went up to Rs. 1900/- +++. If anybody invested Rs. 50,000,000/- just after the war his net profit is more than 1.2 billion by now. I am talking about a non-manipulated and cheapest share even in today's scenarios. Imagine what you have earned if you ride the market with a 50M investment in 2009, participating in 10% of the opportunities. You could have easily made 2-3 billion rupees. I can say plenty of examples. Investing Rs. 50m in 2009 is not a big thing for a person like deleted and deleted. So these ideas are hilarious. May be due to jealousy, or any other sin full feelings.

I would like to reiterate that I don't know whether their money is black or white, or clean money or not. That is up to the regulators/investigators to find out. But making a fear psychosis among investor public especially among small investors and grab their shares cheaply is a crime. And whitewashing regulatory blunders is also a crime. We have seen more regulatory blunders than price manipulations in the CSE.

Colombo market started its downward movement from Feb. 14, and it came down to 6,430 levels from 7,600 levels a depreciation of 16%. Then again it went up to 7,000 levels and started the downward momentum, long before this KUDU stories. When this case started on Oct. 08 with the mulleriyawa incident, index was at 6,700. And even then people were attributing the regulatory blunders for the downfall, some were telling due to adverse international conditions , some were telling due to channel 4. Some were telling it’s a correction.
This low turnover is not because "KUDU MONEY" not coming in. It’s absurd and hilarious to say so. It’s because HNWIs are not trading in the market, may be due to inconsistency of the regulator, I don’t know. All HNWIs are absent. Dr.S, deleted, deleted,IN, AL etc. Other wealthy funds want to bring down the market and grab as much as possible shares.
The valuations of some shares may change drastically when the companies start following IFRS from next year. So don’t throw away valuable shares due to fear. Markets are going up and down. If markets are going up every day any fool can make money, blindly without any effort, without any study. Invest for medium to long term. If there are speculative short term opportunities , grab those. Don’t look at others plates. Look after you plate. Any stock market is full of opportunities. But don’t fall into traps of opportunism.

Why they didn't find about these drugs money when market was doing well, I think that was the time they should have done this, When market had daily turnover more than 2 billions, There may be some truth, But as I feel this is they are trying to make 1 to 10 (Eka dahaya karanawa Smile )

This second graph explains why the CSE is resting. We should be thankful it did not take a deeper plunge, thanks partly to SEC. Good analysis for new comers!

This is the fluctuation which is unbearable to new comers,

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/ta?s=^CSE&t=1y&l=on&z=l&q=l&p=&a=&c=

This is why more seasoned old investors say we are going through a correction,

Cheers!
