There were 3 crossing of NTB shares and totally 22,865,356 shares has been traded today, which is around 10% of the total shares.

As of September,2011 interim report top share holder list.

John Keells Holdings PLC. 46,121,536 20.00%
Mackinnons & Keells Financial Services Limited 22,830,159 9.90%
Mr.Y.S.H.I K deleted. 22,291,456 9.67%
Central Finance Company Limited 20,715,400 8.98%

Any guess, is it an internal transfer.

NTB selling is I believe to meet a regulation. Either JKH or Central Finance group have sold part of their stake to reduce holding. Maybe there will more to come by the other party.

NTB seller have to be Mackinnons. Last week JKH announced that they will reduced their stake to 15%. Even deleted have to shed PABC in the near future.

If I am not mistaken , a single party cannot hold more than 15% of a commercial bank. This is the same rule why DFCC disposed COMB last year.

So I am presuming if JKH sold , Central Finance also will have to sell at some point.

For KDD, he might have to do something about PABC also.

Indra held 22,291,456 shares

But what was sold what more.

13:01:00 57.80 500,000
12:59:10 57.80 2,169,314
12:54:39 57.80 20,196,042

If it is the case, maybe he held a bit more under another account not showing on top 20 list?

Anyway what about JKH and Central Fin holding more than 15%. Has the regulation changed?

brokers are confirming that Indra deleted sold and that DFCC bought the NTB block today

Did you notice that the Government through EPF, SL Insurance Corporation, Bank of Celyon etc do not have very big stakes in NTB ? That has to be a rarity among the local banks now Wink

If DFCC bought NTB it might not be a bad strategic move. With branch expansions and SME funding, NTB might be a good long term play.

Also next year at least another 50-60 Million in pcoket money for DFCC as dividend income from NTB.

This is an excellent price DFCC got for NTB. An excellent investment for long term investors.

NDB strategy to takeover NTB Bank seems to have been implemented by DFCC. It is interesting to watch how NDB react now.

I am upholding my faith in DFCC management. Strong , slow and steady company.

@Monster, The seller would be either CFIN of Mr.Y.S.H.I K Silva. most probably it should be Mr.Y.S.H.I K Silva.
If the buyer is DFCC as stated above, yes that is a good strategic investment.
