The restaurant will focus on serving the country’s best sea food including export quality crabs which a spokesman said was not usually available in the country.
Sangakkara said yesterday that he was interested in food for a long time and was a fan of cookery programs on television when he was in England playing for Warwickshire. ``Those were my favourite programs,’’ he said.
"I got to know Dharshan at Nihonbashi and the idea of a restaurant emerged during our conversation. I don’t know much on the subject but Dharshan can deliver.’’
He didn’t want to discuss the investment numbers until he spoke to his two partners.
Munidasa, whose mother is Japanese, has successfully run the Nihonbashi Japanese restaurant at Galle Face for a long period.
Aravinda de Silva too previously entered the restaurant business with an establishment specializing in Sri Lankan cuisine but has since disposed of his interest.
A press conference on the premises last evening included a cookery demonstration by Munidasa with participants given an opportunity of sampling the food.
