Dear friends,

In the new year i am looking foward to start a business such as import some items from overseas. Eg- Import electronics from China or thailand.
But due to my unavailability in Sri Lanka currently, its bit difficult me to find the legal requirements.
If any one knows the legal requirements could you please make me aware about them considering followings.
1. Is it neccessary to register a company to implement my idea?
2. What are the current custom duty on electronics (Televisions)?

Please insert your idear as well about my openion.

@wasman, All the best wishes for you also I am also thinking about some thing in Plantation side but working overses will make it diffcult

short answer to the question is .,yes you have to register a business.,
it will cost you 1000 rs for same day registration and otherwise it takes fw weeks for 500 Wink

Since you are interested in TVs, I think there is a small niche market for new LED 3D Tvs. When i checked online a samsung 40" 3D LED TV with a blue ray was costing around 600k LKR in Sri Lanka. But abroad you can buy that for about 140k LKR.
