This system is for long time. This is called FIX5 (ATS7) upgrade. I think we are the first in Asia to to use Fix5 protocol. It have few advantages. most important advantage is market feed really fast ( coz in FIX4.5 used TCP/IP to send market data. But in Fix5 it use UDP ) But it doesn't have mach value to country like SL with small stock market. With fix5 upgrade there is no odd lot concept and market only have normal lot , but lot size came to 1 instead of 100. This will be a big problem for market. apart from that there is no real change visible to end users. but at the back end message types are totally different from fix4.5

The main advantage of UDP is the high speed as of its high bit rate used to transfer data. Yes, It's very effective for real time data transactions and the protectiveness of information is higher than TCP. But there is a big risk of losing data packets. They might not be delivered, delivered to the wrong servers or locations, delivered many times mostly twice and the implementation of UDP is much difficult than TCP/IP because it is not full compatible with all internet devices like routers and internet servers and software applications. That's why most servers in broker firms got stuck on Friday and new faults caused in DFN and few other systems for its incompatibility. Auto Cancellation of orders and accepting problems can be caused also. I don't understand why it is required to reduce the minimum share quantity to 1. However, it is not good in any direction for a small exchange. There is no wrong with this technology for large exchanges like NYSE. UDP technology is very complex and it has many sub-divisions also. So, expertise technicians are needed to handle this, otherwise it may cause damages to the current system cycle. I don't know whether cse has persons with these qualifications. It seems to be they don't know even SDLC because of the method that they followed to implement this new system. Smile

Yes its high speed. but as you said protectiveness of information is higher than TCP is wrong. If you want to transfer secure data you should use TCP/IP. That's why in FIx5 they use TCP/IP to communicate order data and udp multicast to communicate market data. compared with order data market data is less sensitive. Yes UDP has higher rate of data lost possibility. It doesn't have any guarantee at receiving end. So thats why in fix5 upgrade they gave additional replay link and snapshot link. both are running on TCP/IP. If some one loss market data via UDP multicast they can connect to either replay or snapshot channel to recover loss data.

Thanks for the correction!
As a percentage 3% of data can be lost. hmm....not good for a market. This should be handle manually using well written programmes. Otherwise problematic.
