Brokerage in SL is fixed, hence there is no competition among brokers. In other countries brokerage is negotiable, hence brokers have to offer value added services to compete for their servival. This competitive environment gives better options for investors. This is lacking in SL. This is one important aspect the SEC has to consider.
I said we have STONE AGE BROKERS because when the whole world is embracing the latest technology, our guys are not bothered & venarate age-old systems. They keep-on with AGE OLD systems at the cost of investors. Few investors complain.
I noticed that, my cheques are delayed & spoke to the authorities on this. The explanation was that they have to follow the procedures up to the writing of the cheque. Then, I inquired why they cant shift to on-line banking where SLIP TRANSFER is faster. SEC rules also permits this method but not mandatory. The reply was that they have to take up the matter in their association six months ago. Still they have not done any thing. I think we too need to take-up his matter collectively.
Recent messup with online trading is also a result of their STONE AGE mentality and lethargy. They were resisting the new system untill last day and never bothered to upgrade their software. Up-graded software too are not working due to incompatibility because either their litercy in technology is nill or else not bothered to employ qualified people to do so. What is the action the SEC is going to take against these brokers?
How many brokers have reliable research reports for their clients. I havent heard of any though they boast of having research sections. All what they have is out-dated ones. No forward looking research reports. I can fatham the gravity of the issue from the questions posed by novices in our forum. I think the current market slowdown is partly attributable to these STONE AGE brokers.
What should we do to improve this friends. Your valuable views are welcome.
