This is a timely topic to discuss. But membes have not shown interest. Dont know why. At the start of the last Q(1st sep) US $ rate was around 108/-and after Nov( Budget day ) depriciation Rate was US$=115/- Now during this Q it has further depriciated and starting from 118/-, has gone up to , 121/-,125/- then 131/-and once went up to 135/- too. All exporters are enjoying this benefit. Exporters of high value added items such as rubber, tea, cocconut products, palm oil and local raw material based manufactured articles are the highest gainers .

Increase of plantation sector shares during the last week indicates this situation. No sooner we could see increased demand for the shares in gament and textile sector and this would followed by exporting (trading and precessing ahd re-exporting) companies as well.

At the next stage import subsititue businesses would be attractive as their turnover is expected to be rise.Tyre and other rubber based products ,helthcare and beutycare products, footware and travel goods, food processing, aand edible oil, etc.

In the light of the above I feel it is useful everyone to monitor closely and identify good counters to play at least for short term.

Seems to be CB is playing dirty game by floating the dollar and now talking about the dollar will come down to 125.
I believe they well engineered the dollar flotation to sell the EPF held stocks to show that the sale made profit 800Million +(only in SL currency).
Now they want to bring down the dollar due to political motives.
If we go through the CB Governor's words for the last 3-4 weeks, we can understand the game.
(Both action are political motivated)
The fools are merely Srilankan citizen.
